Keowee for Labor Day

Well it looks like the weather is even going to cooperate. Sunny with a 20% chance of Thundershowers in the afternoon.

I just emailed everyone in reply to Ryan's and Chuck's emails. I may be offline until late tonight, but regardless I plan to be at the marina no-wake zone by 10am tomorrow. See everyone there!

If we could decide on a VHF channel and get coordinates/directions to Buddys Island that would be cool too. :smt001

We are heading out shortly. Hopefully can get out on the hook tonight ok. If anyone knows that we can get a marina slip at Keowee Marina for the night since we will be getting there at 7ish please call the cell and let us know. (We will not have email or access to forum)It looks like theres no transient slip rental there though. We wanted to be close to the marina in the morn to meet up so it will either be on the hook or at a hotel.

Everyone go with channel 68 unless you hear differently...

I still won't have vhf, but I can use the phone if I have to. It seems to me that following a bunch of SR's should be very easy.

We had a scare today with LeAnn, our daughter, waking up with the stomach flu, but she is doing much better and our plans are still on. Are we just going to meet in the no wake zone, or dock and meet off the boat? I guess the no wake zone.

Trailer and the boat is out of the garage and hooked up to the truck. I even hooked it up to the muffs to make sure it would start tomorrow. Its been sitting for a while now and don't want anymore suprises. See you guys at 10am

I won't be able to make it... the secret society is having a get together over the weekend on the Potomac.

Secret Society - Ye, sure we know you just don't want to be seen with the small gas boats.:smt043:lol:

Ready to go! Shore power unhooked, Hitch ready to be attached.

Channel 68 it is. There's a public dock near the fuel and Tiki Hut but it may be jammed full on Sat morning. If not, maybe we can fill it up ourselves. We'll just have to play it by ear. I have a feeling we'll recognize each other fairly easily.

See everyone in the AM!

Think I am finally ready, we should be pulling out at 6:00 in the morning. Look forward to meeting everyone. We have never trailered this far for a trip so should be interesting. Hope some of the other members that are in the area decide to come on down and Paul finds a way to get out of work.

Made it home safe and sound, hope everybody else makes it home safe too. I know some are still on the lake. Gerald thanks for suggesting the trip. Keowee gang thanks for having us. You all sure have one nice lake. I'm already trying to figure out when I can make it back. Pictures to come.

PS: I even heard something about Salt on First Born. More to come.....

Our trip home was uneventful as well. Got home around 7:30 last night. Still can't get over how beautiful and clear the lake was. The water was just perfect. Never in my life I would think we could raft up with the stern against the beach, but it worked great. We must plan another trip for next summer. Gerald, thanks for everything. You made the trip so much easier with all your great info. Had a blast and met many new friends for life!!

We too made it in safely. Got home about 11:30 last night. Encountered some very heavy downpours in Columbia area for about 20 miles that slowed us up significantly but made it through without any problems. Stopped and got our boat/trailer and gross weight at a truck stop, so we now have an exact knowledge of what we are putting the tow vehicle through. It did struggle a little on those hills. She's use to flatlands. LOL. What a great trip though. Thanks Gerald for organizing. Thanks to all who provided more info to make it run so smoothly and thanks to everyone who came out to the event. What a great group of people and new friends! We are definately in on making it a tradition. And yes, I think we did make a calendar shot.

Awesome raft-up. Glad to hear everybody made it home safely. I'm looking forward to next year.

It sure would be nice if we could email an official roster of the raft-up crews. Did any one happen to make a list?

Not that I'm aware of, but it would be nice. What if I sent out another email requesting the info and then add that to the list I've already compiled, then returned that email back to everyone?

Sounds good to me.
