Is there anyone on their boat in the Carolinas?

the only way i am keeping my sanity (what little i have left) during winter storage is to keep dreaming up more 'projects' for the boat...these projects occupy what little spare time i have and the steady flow of payments for the project materials keeps my bank account from going into 'shock' if i were to suddenly stop taking money out for boat related expenditures...:smt101

ok... I'll admit it... you are in the carolinas where you can experience NC winters (one day it's in the 60's, the next in the 20's). I can't imagine putting my boat "up for the winter". It's our absolute favorite season!

Down on the Carolina Coast we run year round - as long as the sun is shining and the canvas is up.. we get the greenhouse effect and stay toasty. No traffic, quiet cruising and often calm waters offshore.

It's expected to be in the upper 60's tommorrow - we'll be cruising the ICW watching dolphins, sipping coffee and enjoying the company on the boat. this will be repeated several times this month, and in Janurary/February :)

When it does freeze (on those really cold nights) we just plug in the bilge heater and keep the heat on in cabin to protect from freezing damage.

Maybe all you "lake folk" just need to trailer down to the coast for the winter instead of putting it up!

Have to agree...............the Carolina's are perfect for winter boating as long as you have camper canvas. We were out yesterday and pretty much had the whole lake to ourselves. Cruised in shirt sleeves all day and was nice and warm inside the camper enclosure.

Just got back from a short cruise. Planning a trip up to Wilmington in a few weeks hopefully, where are you located?

We are in north Wilmington. we keep the boat in a slip just north of wrightsville beach on the icw.

We will be going to MarineMax at Wrightsville to look at a boat.

They have a real top notch crew there. We purchased our boat from them a few years ago and they have always gone the extra mile when it comes to service and support. You'll pay a bit more for a boat from MarineMax but you'll also get that value back many times over the life of the boat (expecially if it stays in the area).

that's good info
Thanks!

I was on my boat today! Well it's still in the shop, but I sat in it and made engine noises. The guys that were working on the windlass were looking at me kinda funny. Oh well, I got my fix! lol

Took the boat the 9 miles to Tbones a week or two ago for the Lake Wylie boat Christmas parade and I must say that was a blast. These people go all out! Tbones was packed upper and lower floor full...deck full....I think all of York County came out to see the lights! People were even standing in the Buster Boyd parking lot to watch.

I got there about an hour before the show and got a slip out of the way...kicked on the generator, tunes and heat and proceeded to watch the show with some buds. One guy had his 30'+ boat decorated as the Polar express with turning wheels, smoke stack (with smoke machine) and dancing elves....

Got to talk to some cool Coast Guard Auxillary guys and just had a good time for winter on the lake. My pictures did not turn out well...with the dark lake bright light thing going on.

Merry Christmas!

i am planning to be on my boat right after Christmas, after santa brings me a new Lowrance HDS-5 GPS/plotter....of course i will only be in my back yard with the boat on the trailer but at least its something....

just remember, the days start getting longer after today....Spring can't be too far away....at least thats what i keep telling myself....

Kendall, I've been to the T-bonz Boat parades, great time. Sometimes I miss LKW.

Cliff, like I did, on the boat, sometimes is on the boat! haha Get that installed real good. I feel The CB'ers are planning a fun filled next year of boating.

Missed the LKN Xmas boat parade. But did get on her last Sun. Was going to do some maintenance but too nice not to go for a ride. Then lunch and a few brews at the "Boathouse". This is just what I needed to clear the head.
Now if that guy just comes on the 27th to buy the other boat it WILL be a good Christmas!!!

It hit 70 for the third day in a row here in Beaufort, SC. So I dusted off the 175 Sport and put her in the water for little cruise on New Years Day. Here are some pictures I took.

Hey ZZ,
Where do you keep your 300 at in Beaufort? I spend a lot of time in that area, my daughter goes to USCB.

Hey ZZ, Lived there in the 90's. We miss it very much and vacation there every couple years. I had a heavy equipment repair business there and did some work on some of the boat engine at the marina. Do you go to the blessing of the fleet? If so maybe I'll see you next year.
