Man, please post something, anything. My boat is in the shop getting an anchor roller put on before the windlass gets installed. Someone post an adventure please! hAHAHA

Went camping on Lake Wylie last weekend with my wife and 3 other couples on all of our boats. It was alot of fun. We had a nice fire on land and cooked out. It was a great time!

I put on all my Camper Canvas last weekend too. I always forget how much I dislike boating with it on but I guess it is better than not being able to use the boat during the winter!

Nice Jason. What island did you camp on? I kinda miss the island near Stow. I used to camp there all the time.

Tracy, you just doing maintenance or upgrading? I'm ready for a trip! Spring is a long way.

Well.......after I replaced the blown up battery Saturday morning I took it for a spin to Morehead City and filled it with gas -than shot over to Beaufort and had lunch ,small cruise around Shackelford banks and back to the marina and then pulled the boat for the winter to due repairs-maintenance ......setting in my driveway on the trailer

just finished winterizing mine last w/e....this winter i am going to make a new dash panel and rearrange the gauges and switches to flush mount a GPS in the dash...at least that will give me something related to boating to do...this time of year it is dark when i get home from work so the only time to work on the boat is the w/e's...but due to the holiday season and trying to find time to get together with all of our extended family the time on the w/e's to work on the boat is getting hard to find...

There are several company sponsored rec areas on the lake that have shelters with fire pit, grills, etc. We were at one of those. Just tied up to the docks and slept in the boats. Unfortunately you can no longer have a fire or camp on islands of the Duke Lakes. They had some problems a few years back on Lake Norman and changed the rules. I think a fire got out of hand or something like that. Back when I grew up near LKN we used to have a good time camping.

I have heard that about LKN but I still see alot of people camping the islands. Hopefully the DNR won't enforce that rule. I don't usually camp on the islands, but I will tie off to a tree and run an anchor out off the bow.

I work for Duke and we had an employee marina I used to stay at. There is room for at least six boats. There are showers and picnic areas and pavilion. I wish Duke would build us one on LKN at McGuire!

You asked for it! I've been taking my 290AJ out for some fishing this year. Didn't have the chance to last fall due to mechanical issues (operator error inflicted). The past two weeks have afforded us with amazing fall weather here in Beaufort. Low 70's in the day and near flat seas so I've been 10 miles out to a location called Northwest Places. It has been so nice that I can still see the Cape Lookout lighthouse. Had to stick close enough to see because I'm using my cell phone with Naviaonics USA East as a GPS device...there's another winter project.

Anyway, I went out Sunday of this week and averaged a cruise speed on the way out of 25kts and 30kts on the way back in! It was so calm that I even went down below on the way in to "tidy up" a bit - which means I got another cigar and a beer.

Caught some big false albacore - here's a couple pics.

Hey Mike, Your pics didn't make it! I want to see! haha

Post away my good man. I love to see and read about adventures on the water.

Hey, Do you know about our club on facebook? It is a spin off club from here. It's made up mostly of Sea Ray owners but we allow any type boat in, Hence why we took it to facebook. It's called Carolina Boaters, look us up.
We meet up a few times a year, sometimes more, for short weekend cruises. Heck we need someone from your area to maybe set up a trip there in your neck of the woods. To be the guide sort of.

This goes out to any one here. We are active and love cruising, and having a good time.

we just joined Carolina Boaters...looking forward to joining in on some of the cruises....we met a couple of the members at Lake Jocassee a few weeks ago...seems like a group of good people that don't take themselves too seriously....should be a lot of fun...

Nice Cliff. The winter months are slow. We tend to rib each other, talk safety stuff, and plan trips for the spring. We always seem to have a big time on our trips. Between the personalities in the club, your face sometimes will hurt from laughing and smiling to much.

If you have a trip you've been wanting to do, now is the time to suggest it, and push it into planning stages. Trips usually take off out of nowhere, next thing you know you on the boat! haha

Yeah and if you don't show up to a boating trip we will talk about you! Believe me, we have a lot of fun and interesting events to happen everytime we meet. Last one we went was Bald Head Island NC, and I'll let Mike tell you the rest!:smt100

Oh I see how it is, Jocassee doesn't count as a group trip, we still talked about those that were not there.

Wait a minute..........I wasn't on the Jocassee trip! I didn't do it,.....what ever it was I did. haha

Oooo Tracy, I will never forget that event. Lets hope it never happens again. Nicky I think that is another thread to add to our safety section! Golf Cart safety and seat belts!

Now if we can just keep Kes and Jay off the shoals so we can get to the beach....haha

No Jocassee was an executive getaway trip.

looking forward to hearing about the trip to bald head island....i'm sure the story gets a little more 'lively' each time it is told, especially if 'adult beverages' are being consumed at the time....we did make it to Jocasse although we were only there for the last day...we missed hooking up with the group earlier in the week due to 'life' and 'family' things that often seem to get in the way of having fun....we didn't know until the last minute if we were going to be able to go at all....glad we did...beautiful lake....i don't want to miss very many cruises...i get the feeling that once this group starts 'bad mouthing' someone for missing a trip it can get pretty ugly pretty quickly...

Hey,
I want to boat 12 months a year! We are thinking about relocating to somewhere warmer like the Carolina boys.

I am a manufacturing engineer (automobiles). Are there any good manufacturing jobs out there on the coast?
