I'm curious. If you do your own maintenance on an engine or drives that are under factory warranty and later something goes wrong. Will it still be covered? It seems you might be giving them an excuse to deny a claim. Maybe I'm being overly cautious.
I've done my own maintenance on *anything* that has had a warranty I've bought (boat, cars, air conditioner, furnace, you name it) and have never had any trouble. But I would still hope that if something went wrong, they'd cover it. I hate saying "hope". It may give them an out, but I'd fight hard and show my own log entries that can give me a leg to stand on.
Besides, from what I'm reading here, I'm saving a ton doing the work myself so even if I screwed up and had to replace the engine, I'd still be ahead! "If you want it done right, do it yourself"...and I've proven it true the couple of times I've had someone else do something for me.
I keep asking myself why I'm not in the career of boat mechanicals repair/maintenance. To me, it seems you all are getting ripped off!
