I meant that the harbor is open, this is outside the harbor entrance.

Snow tonight again. The lake is open down here Port Washington- Milwaukee. Been open for near 1 month. Marina still ice covered and fisherman still poking holes. I heard rumor McKinley marina has severe ice damage to floating docks possibly delaying marina opening.

"Normally, the ice boom has to be removed by April 1st of each year unless there is still more than 250 square miles (650 square kilometres) of ice in the eastern portion of Lake Erie. The earliest removal of the ice boom occurred on March 5th 1998 and the latest removal of the ice boom occurred on April 25th 1997. "

What is the over/under for this years removal? Think we could see a new record?

"The latest the boom has ever been removed was on May 3, 1971"

Is there going to be a new record?

This is Sandusky Bay on Wednesday 3/26/14. There is very little open water around shore. My launch is scheduled for May 9th and will be the latest we've been in the water in our 20 years on the lake.

Wow... May 9th?? That stinks. I was at my boat today and they said they thinks inches will start within the next couple weeks. I usually am one of the first on so I HOPE to be in by mid-April.

Here is a shot of the lake right off our marina. Pardon the dirty windows I shot through.

Is that contraption on the horizon some new ride at Cedar Point?

I just got back from the marina which is located on the river by Lake Michigan. There is ice to the horizon. Although Lake Michigan is mostly ice free, the west winds have blown the open water ice onto the coast of west Michigan. We need an east wind!

Patience Captain, we will get winds out of the east or we'll crush this ice up and use it for our Margarita's....I like mine with SALT of the edge of the Glass.......Ice will be gone soon for now Tight lines soon... aye..

Being on the western shore of Lake Michigan, we are fine with winds out of the west. According to ice fishermen, we still have a foot+ of ice in our marina
