food rationing???

I told you guys we are in the supply chain for bullets for the DOD... our orders have almost doubled and mandated lead times have decreased 25%...
I have no idea but I wonder if the DOD takes consumer ammo?... I know a lot of people are buying it... but does that trigger the DOD to buy?

Gun sales in Pa are thru the roof right now and everyone wants a concealed carry permit so one county is opening sheriffs office by appointment for the permits. Someone filed a lawsuit about state closing gun stores and courts said it was against 2nd amendment rights so gun shops are now open with some shops reporting empty shelves of hand guns.

Yep. My son went to get ammo at a gun shop a few weeks ago and the display cases were almost empty and very little ammo left. He drives from Pittsburgh to New Hampshire every week and takes his gun with him. He has a few stops in a few states along the way. There are a couple of states he goes through where he has to unload and store the gun and ammo separately, NY being one. His wife is home by herself all week and also has a gun she keeps there.
Last week I drove by a different gun shop and the lot was full and cars lined up along the highway. My step-son is a detective and is on the CERT team so he has everything he needs.

Just prior to all this mess starting my son and his wife moved from here to TX. When he left I have him about 1000 rounds of 5.56, figuring he'd use it shooting hogs down there. So I'm basically down to a couple hundred rounds for that gun but I figure if I can't fix a problem with that much ammo this problem is HUGE.

Hope it doesn't come to that anywhere in our country.

Yeah I don't have much ammo but I am a pretty decent shot...lol. I probably have about 100 rounds for my Glock 22 (.40 cal) and about 100 for my S&W M&P Shield (9mm). Also have about 50 rounds for my .270. Have a few other rifles here too but even less ammo for those. But I don't think we will get to that point. I really hope not. I think as a society we would be better than that.

This is our beef freezer. It's just the two of us, but we do give my stepdaughter some when she visits from the Seattle area.View attachment 81176

Buddy mine is a prepper. He has same thing. Was telling me that when everyone else is starving he’ll be grilling and eating steaks.

I highly recommended he double up on ammo.

Here and there there's bound to be some people that mis-behave I think. For myself...I live outa town, in the woods, my driveway is 3/4 mile long. I think I'll just get a big chunk of plywood and scrawl on it 'Danger-We're Infected-Keep Away'. I'll nail that to a tree at the start of the driveway. If anyone comes down the driveway with out callin' first I won't have to waste time asking them what they want.;)

Either that or put on some clown masks (JOKER movie), that will freak them out woody......lol

Most of the restaurants in my area have a lot of food, and they have daily specials - BOGO's, $5 hamburgers, etc. I called in my BOGO order last night and went to the restaurant about a half hour later. Still had to wait another half hour for my order to come out. I think this is good for the restaurant since it keeps them in business and pays their staff, and I get to eat other than my wife's cooking at a great price.

I'm not a prepper, I just hate to only keep half of a beef and lose half of the great steaks.
I also make summer sausage and pepper sticks for boating snacks, that puts a dent in the meat stash.
There is nothing better than home grown beef and pork.

Watch NY, if out of state and gun in trunk you'll still be in big trouble if caught with it!!

Really? How do you pass through? I know NY does not have reprocicity with PA. Does it have to be in a locked container?

Texas is huge. What is absurd is that someone would bash the whole state for the actions of a few in their little corner of it.
A little tense there? How about this - North Texas.....there, feeling better? Sheesh...

Same thing is happening around here. One restaurant was even selling uncooked meat/poultry/fish this week.

My understanding and from my relatives that live in NY no out of state residents can take a gun into NY period! Residents have to have a permit before they even buy a pistol, long rifle or shotgun. Told my relatives that I don't know how they live there with their rules and regulations.

No permit needed for a shot gun. Just a background check. Each sale took about 25 minutes to complete.
Handguns are a different story. You need a permit first before purchase.

This is outside of NYC.
The rules inside NYC are different.

He has to have it in a locked container if it can not be separated from the passenger compartment.
In a car, the trunk is acceptable, if he is legal where he starts and legal where his trip ends.
If he stops, I think for any reason, in the state of NY is where things start to turn gray. I don't pay too much attention to this obviously because I carry here and it doesn't pertain to me. I've been licensed here so long I may be a little out of date on some of our newer tweaks to the SAFEact. The only New York law that bothers me as far as hand guns go is the 7 round mag law. Those that want to carry larger mags than 10 can't and seeing as how the manufacturers told Cuomo to go screw himself as far as manufacturing 7 round mags just for New Yorkers, it can get messy if you lose count on how many rounds are in your 10 round mag and you can bet they'll be counting if there's an incident. I carry a commander size 45, always have, but would have switched to that if I was a 9 or 40 carrier because of the dumb law. Don't know how your son would be looked upon if his gun and ammo were legally carried in his car but his magazine had more than seven rounds in it, probably not very kindly.
Here's a web site that I check in upon from time to time to see what's going on.

Edit: see "transporting firearms through NY" about halfway through the above linked page.

Back on subject. You know things have changed in your life (hopefully temporarily) when your wife walks in the door from shopping and you're more excited about the TP she finally found than the booze she bought.

Wife shopped yesterday. Everything available AND she brought home a 6-roll of tp.

I’m more a wet wipe kinda guy though.

If I remember correctly:
Passing through NY with handgun in car it must be in a locked container with any ammo in a separate locked container. Keep it as inaccessible to you as possible. Locked trunk of vehicle or at least that far away if no trunk.
Making sure you can’t get your hands on it is the best advice.
Do not stop for meals or overnight.
You must be licensed in place your coming from and going to.
Realize you are in unfriendly territory and use common sense.
Try not to get pulled over. If you do get pulled over, don’t open a can of worms and volunteer that you are transporting it.
You can still wind up getting locked up. If you are legit you’ll get off, but why go down that road if you don’t have to.
I carried while passing through other states prior to the existence of HR 218 (active and qualified retired law enforcement good any state in the country) but never ever waved a banner pronouncing it.
My hollow points are illegal in NJ. I would never break NJ law and carry hollow points while driving through NJ.
But if for some reason I was passing through on the Jersey Tpke and “forgot” to leave my hollow points at home I wouldn’t volunteer that info if I got pulled over or give a State Trooper a reason to have me draw and present my gun so he could inspect the ammo in it.
Naturally, if for some unexplained reason I was going to spend the night in NJ I would tie a string around my finger to remind myself to buy some ammo that wasn’t hollow point and load with that before leaving home.
