food rationing???

Last October I took a road trip to Niagra Falls in Ontario, Canada. I wanted so bad to bring my 40, but with all the states I was traveling through, and with all the laws I decided to leave it at home. I didn't like not having it on that kind of trip, but I pretty much didn't have a choice.
The final decision was knowing I had to cross the US/Canada border a couple of times, and they could search my vehicle if they decided to.
I downloaded the app CCW, it is a pay app, but I think it was worth it.

To be clear, there is no food rationing taking place. There are shortages in certain retail locations, but a retailer limiting sales is hardly rationing.

Rationing — to allow each person to have only a fixed amount of (a particular commodity).

Thats exactly what they are doing.

Yep, remember the gas rationing during the embargo?
(Depending on your age)

Nope.

If we had true rationing (such as WW2) each individual would be issued a card that must be stamped or punched at each visit. This is issued by the government. During WW2 there was rationing of meat, fuel and other items vital to the war effort.

Right now there is no such program. One can go to retailer A and buy a pack of meat (limit 1), then go back and hour later and buy again. Read the signs, they say the limit is “each transaction”. You could even take your wife, hand her 1 pack of beef and let her check out separately.

Also, anyone can go to multiple retailers to buy the same item. Again, no government intervention.

The “food rationing” is just another tactic to invoke fear and panic.

This was done by license plate numbers. Even numbers on Monday, Odd numbers on Tuesday, and so on. And the station would limit the amount you could purchase. But nothing stopped anyone from buying at station A then driving to station B and buying there.

The last time this country saw true gov controlled rationing was WW2.

yep, I was odd number. I think they did that again downstate after super storm Sandy.
Maybe we should do that with TP :)

Someone needs to explain to me how all these different restrictions and regulations regarding guns is constitutional....It's pretty much a rhetorical question. I'm looking forward to this being addressed in SCOTUS...I know they've been trying to get a case up there. A CCW permit holder should be able to travel freely throughout the 50 states...We make criminals out of people for crossing an imaginary line. I shake my head how we got here....

Regarding rationing...I've seen some items out of stock, but usually it comes back. I'm scratching my head o the TP issue...Charmin has to double up capacity..

I forgot to mention, both my wife and I have a cwp for our state.

Nothing but the long lines!! I remember.

Yes, my son has a valid CCW for PA. He is driving his 2500 Ram. I think he has been unloading it and locking it in the glove box when passing through NY. But he has been staying in a hotel in Fishkill on the way up and back. He isn't getting anywhere close to NYC.

I used to be in law enforcement and was eligible under HR218 but quit that back the end of 2010 (no retirement) so no longer eligible but PA CCW has reciprocity with alot of states.

Ky went to constitutional carry. No more
CCW license required here. Most everyone packs anyway.

Boatman, I don't know how much time you put in with your agency but LEOSA changed requirements for retired officers from 15 years to 10, and you no longer, I think, have to be drawing benefits. So maybe you're still eligible

Here and there there's bound to be some people that mis-behave I think. For myself...I live outa town, in the woods, my driveway is 3/4 mile long. I think I'll just get a big chunk of plywood and scrawl on it 'Danger-We're Infected-Keep Away'. I'll nail that to a tree at the start of the driveway. If anyone comes down the driveway with out callin' first I won't have to waste time asking them what they want.;)
Woody, just put up a sign that say's, "Out of Beer", that'll keep'em away up there.

We had odd and even days based on plate numbers here in NY, but no limit on gas. At least not in cars anyway.

Wife shopped yesterday. Everything available AND she brought home a 6-roll of tp.

I’m more a wet wipe kinda guy though.

Unless you're putting wet wipes in the trash (eww) those are horrible for the plumbing. They clog up the sewer pipes, pumps and strainers because they don't dissolve. A lot of sewer authorities want them banned because they cause blockages and damage equipment.

It doesn't matter if the package says "flushable"; flushable ≠ degradable. Anyone that's had a toddler knows that lot of things that can be flushed really shouldn't be.

Does anyone from NY or NJ know if the rights to carry under LEOSA have any standing in those states?

In the western states the LEOSA card is pretty much a Get Out Of Jail Free card when presented with the Retired LEO ID card.

All I know is that NYC is a land unto its own. They basically don’t recognize anyone else’s gun rules.

I live on Long Island; technically 2 of the NYC boros are on the island. Literally the ONLY land routes off the island must go through NYC. I think it’s a pretty big PITA just to transport off the island. There are 2 ferry routes to Connecticut but they might not be the most direct route.

Mike, LEOSA is federal and for the most part, upstate NY is pretty good about things. Not saying you might not run across a local that's not quite up to speed on the law. Carry a copy of HR218 in you glove box.
NY City has been through LEOSA once and lost as cited at the top of page 11 in the link I provided in post #77 on this thread. Your mileage may vary.
