CSR Rendezvous 2009 – Atlantic City NJ

Rod, is there anywhere that you HAVEN'T run aground? ;-)

I hate to even bring this up....especially so late in the game.....Butttttttt....if you guys want, we can make a last minute change and head out the Barnegat Inlet.....Since the weather gods are on our side now, we can just take advantage of the situation. I'm OK either way....

I'll add this.....traveling with 12-14 boats in the open ocean will be MUCH easier than in the ICW!!!!

Let's do this....everyone think about it....post your thoughts here.....and we'll make the final decision in the cove tomorrow morning.....sound good????

After 20+ trips to AC and back you find all the shallow spots..:smt101 We had guests on the boat when we ran aground in the AC basin, and I had to get in the water (in my clothes) in front the Coasties, and pull the boat out of the mud... There is a marker, but it only matters at dead low tide... Pays to know the tides. I plan on waiting in the channel for my turn to go to my slip. I have only ran aground in the same spot twice at Tow Island.

Sounds good to me... might to tell my girls to cut out of swim practice early...:smt001

I just heard from Mike and Vince.....Mike is running late....I'm sure it was all his fault and had nothing to do with his GF or the dog.....Vince decided to use the time wisely and is trolling off of Sandy Hook trying to catch a striper.... (I hope I put the right amount of Ps in there....I meant the fish....not the pole dancer)..... so we can cook it up and bring it down to the table of the gods.....

Since I now have 11 people in my group, I would like to bring something else, not sure what though. Anybody have requests? (Other than lobster:grin:)

Also, how do Pina Coladas and Strawberry Daiquiris sound?

Marine forecast for tomorrow off BI: Friday: W wind 9 to 11 kt. A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Seas 1 to 2 ft....

Dom,
I'm good either way. I think we can also save 20-30min on the ocean side. I totally agree that it'll be much easier for the group to travel in the ocean vs. trying to follow each other in the narrow ICW. If the weather will stay, as they predicting, in our favor it might be a good idea to switch to the ocean side. I guess, we wont know for sure what's the best approach until we see what the actual weather is like tomorrow morning.

P.S. I think it'll make things easier if no one has to stop by BHYC for fuel. I'm getting mine early in the morning at OG.

OK...I just heard from both Mike and Vince.....they both said that the Ocean was a rumbling.....so much for the forcast...who is it that said you can't believe everything you read?......I'll let them describe it when they get in, but lets just say that there won't be any striper on the menu......

I've got two more coming with me, for a total of 11 now. Frank I'll PM you the additional names. I need to confirm the spelling on one of them...

Name tags are done. No more changes please. :) I'll have a few blanks for hand-written ones.

It's always someone who's not bringing the lobster -- a CSR tradition it seems. Be creative with what you bring; it'll be fine. Then again, there's always the forfeit.

Looks like west winds 10-15 for Friday. Should make for a real nice run for "TEAM OCEAN." Dom, can we call you "Gold Leader," like in Star Wars?

Outside!

Oops! Never mind.

I have to stop at OGYB for fuel on the way down, but we'll do that early. ... if I have enough to make OG.

Right now he's having a problem with his right foot....it's stuck in the 'up' position.....He's trying to get it 'down', but time is of the essence....

Well you guys have a blast. Wish I was there. Sounds like a good time. .....one day...

In or out, whatever the masses decide. I'm only the cruise director.
BTW, it's almost 17:00 and I haven't heard back from the table dude. I called and left two messages today. Need that stupid paperwork faxed. I guess that can be done when we arrive. More fantastic customer service from the crack staff (or the staff on crack??)

If someone's hooking up with me, they should check in. I'm heading to the boat now and plan to take the first 2 hours off the trip by staying the night in Chesapeake City on the CD Canal. We'll be leaving there Friday morning around 0700.

OK on the table fin.

Since I won't be back on the computer for awhile, I'll leave with this - I changed my mind and really want the T-Head!!!!

See you there...
Hi Stan

Gary suggested that I hook up with you if we went inside up the Bay from Virginia Beach. Since the weather cooperated we are running the Ocean side.

Rick

So....who's actually on their way today? I know we have Mike (turtle butt) and Vince (vince_nj1) enroute....they're probably dodging the red blobs off of Sandy Hook about now....

Oh Mike/Vince....the sun is out down here in Ocean County....I have the shears, paint brushes and pool skimmer all set and ready for you guys....I'm gonna go sun my bald head by the pool, light up a cigar and open a cold one while I wait for you...

Who else is out there...Oh yeah....trouble maker....he should be heading up the Chessapeak about now getting ready to hook up with Stan....his first date stood him up....

Be safe and we'll see you all tomorrow!!!!!

Yo Mr. Dom, sir-

I am, in fact, at the White Marlin Marina in Ocean City, MD after a run up the Atlantic Coast. We are departing tomorrow morning so we should arrive to cause some more trouble between noon and 1:00pm.

I am fine with going out Barnegat and running the ocean. I took the day off today and spent the afternoon getting the boat ready. We are now all cleaned, packed and ready to go. I spent some time snooping around in the ER checking stuff out. There was stonger smell of gas in the ER that I am used to. I found that the sending unit for the port tank was leaking at the gasket. I had replaced the sender in 2004. I tightened down the screws and hopfully have fixed it. The screws were pretty loose, dont know if this is 5 seasons of vibration or the gasket has softened up or what. I filled the tank last Sunday and it was pretty choppy on the bay today so the boat was rocking pretty good.

I got to get a boat that doesn't have spark plugs.....

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow

Jon

The Chesapeake lay down today as well and the run to the CD Canal was as smooth as can be. We dropped anchor in the basin, cooked a nice dinner, watched the sunset, and relaxed the evening away.

45 nm in the book and 95 nm to go tomorrow. What will the Delaware Bay be like?

Any word from the northern contingent (Mike and Vince)?

Well....we had a great time here at Dom's Marina.....
