CSR Northeast Flotilla 2016

Fyi - the reservation system opened today (Feb 1st) for Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven. Are the plans solid enough for making reservations yet? Moorings are first come first served in OB, but slips do fill up. One weekend already filled a little after midnight today when they opened up the online reservations! (It's Illumination weekend, which always sells out early, Wednesday, Aug 17 - Sunday, Aug 21.)

I've never been to one of these CSR Flotillas, do you usually do moorings or slips?

thanks is for the info. Wherever possible, a large number of us like rafting together as a group. Some will take slips at various marinas.

Just a confirmation question. There's an option and a protected area to raft in all locations correct? A large majority of the group is reading in all locations?

Should the itinerary on the first page be revised to reflect our current plan? That way anyone else joining in sees what our "new" plan is.

Harold,

I’ve updated the first page with latest info. If I missed anything, please let me know.

See my response below.

In MV, we’re rafting in Lagoon Pond.

Yes, all 4 locations have protected anchorages. As far as I understand, the majority is planning to raft in all of them. I know I’m anchoring in all ports. However, all of the ports we’re going will also have marinas for those who prefer to be at the dock.

I’ll make a note on the first page regarding this, so there’s no confusion.

Alex on day 9 you have us in nyannis. Not sure if we're magically moving the boats overnight to a new location but I'm not sure we're that is

Minor typo, correction made. Thanks for noticing.

Looks good! Now we just need the groundhog's prediction to come true......let's go Spring!!

We're now at 19 boats and counting. Considering that majority will be rafting, we usually have few boats that prefer using marinas. So, I figure it would be a good idea to clarify
the arrangement for both options.

Here's the list of ports with raft locations:

Port 1: Shelter Isl (Rafting in Coecles Harbor)
Port 2: Vineyard Haven MV (Rafting in Lagoon Pond)
Port 3: Hyannis (Rafting in Lewis Bay)
Port 4: Montauk (Rafting in Lake Montauk)

Here's the list of ports with nearest and suggested marinas locations:

Port 1: Shelter Isl (Coecles Harbor Marina)
Port 2: Vineyard Haven MV (Vineyard Haven Marina)
Port 3: Hyannis (Hyannis Marina)
Port 4: Montauk (Montauk Yacht Club)

I'm pretty comfortable with all marinas, but would like to hear more feedback from people in the area regarding Vineyard Haven marina. Is this what you would recommend or is there a better choice?

I think it's a good time to review marina options in all 4 ports and make the list of boats going to marinas, so folks can start making reservations. Some places will be hard to get to if you wait too long.

Hi Alex,
Will you be arriving in Shelter Island early (as in Friday) by any chance to start the raft up?

Todd,
I am planning on arriving in Shelter Island on Friday. Ron and Wendy usually travel out there with us the same day.

Todd,

There's very good chance that I will be there Fri. I usually arrive Fri, I'll try to get there earlier, but it's too soon to predict. Besides Run, Harold and myself, I think there will be more boats on Fri. But, we'll know for sure as we get closer to the date.

Alex since work is not standing in my way anymore I'll probably travel behind Inspiration on Friday also.

Who's Run :)?

That sounds good Alex. I haven't seen Run in a long time. I hope windy is coming with him!

All kidding aside, I think I'm going to join you guys for the raft up at shelter. I'd like to get there Friday & setup if others will be there.

Vineyard Haven Marina is among the only real choices for Dockage in VH but its a good Marina. There are a few docks at Black Dog, and one other small Marina that the name is escaping me right now.

Either way if docking in VH, send in reservation soon, VH Marina is the only Marina on Vineyard for larger boats and it fills quickly.

You've been very quite lately, Ron. How else am I going to keep you awake during your "winter harbernation"?

That would be great, Todd. I'll add you to the first page.

Folks,
Those who wants to stay in a marina, don't wait too long. I know for a fact that in MV area, moorings and marinas go quick.
