Atlantic City Rendezvous 2011

How about start a poll for next year's location.

I am thinking that Wildwood might work. Some of you folks from the "northern contingent" would have to actually spend a dollar or three on fuel to get there instead of driving your boat around the corner.

I wonder how many of the 20 - 30 footers would make that trip?

Still playing catch up at work. I'll try to get the photos on my camera up before the weekend is out.

With regard to Wildwood.....I'll be the first to say that...."I'm in and I'm not bringing any lobster there either".

What would be the choices in the poll? WILDWOOD, AC, BELMAR, not much else I can think of. Anyone...?

You might lose some people with points further south.

.....You might lose some people with points further south.

And you might pick up some new folks too! Why do you think we would we lose people.......the distance/fuel issue or the Ocean/Inside issue or both?

There was some discussion about moving more north to Liberty Landing.....do you think we would have issues with that change also?

Hey....if The Golden Nugget gets their act together, we may not even need to consider a move....btw....why are we considering a move?

Ask Gary ;-)

I am all over Wildwood... Schooners Marina... 10 times better than AC, especially for the kids... I am in, but can't afford the lobster... But the Lobster house in Cape May is only a short ride...

Because Rick's fuel bill is like $5k+ for the roundtrip!

Just to do something different.

I’m in for any destination, but here are my thoughts:

1. I had suggested AC (Farley State Marina) in 2009 for number of reasons:
a. AC is a destination with lots of choices for entertainment, mostly adults but even some for the families with kids. You can find things to do during the day, but nightlife entertainment is the highlight of the town. On the hot days you can go to the pool on 6th floor or go to local beach.

b. The location is doable for any size of boat and provides easy access via calm waters of ICW and of course via Open Ocean for larger vessels.

c. The marina was in pretty good condition few years ago. It’s capable to hold large party and we were always accommodated to have the “Table of the Gods” on the dock of our choice.
IMO, we had very successful AC Rendezvous for the past 3 years. The fact that Gary had bad experience a week before our event was not what our group experienced upon arrival on July 8th. I’d say that for the most part everything worked out pretty good for the exception of couple minor mishaps, which can happen almost anywhere. BTW, the fact that Golden Nugget took over Trump Marina is a good indication that things might improve very soon. I think Rick found some info with more details on the renovation for the place. So, I think if we don’t have solid reasons to move, maybe GN deserves some slack and see what we get from them next year. Hey, let’s not forget that the first improvement all of us have seen this time is the lower slip rates.

2. So, let’s say that majority who attended the AC Rendezvous for the past 3 years whishes to move just for the change of scenery and have different experience. I agree with Ron, our choices are limited. The only other places that come to mind are Wildwood and Ocean City NJ. I don’t think that Places like Belmar and Liberty Landing Marina are good choices. Belmar is full of jellies in July and LLM doesn’t have a pool or any body of water to swim in. We were there last year and it was HOT. The crew couldn’t wait until we continue on our trip to places where we can jump in water.

3. Regardless what we do we will loose some and gain some participants. However, if we consider all things that are desired by majority, then most people will show up, just like in the past.

As I said before, I’m in either way.

Absecon is about 40 miles from CM inlet. So according to my calculations, figuring 34gph, 4 less hours of travel time to and fro, and $4/gallon gas, Rick would save $544, or around 11%. Nothing to sneeze at.

Can Schooner Island handle 20-30 transients?

Liberty Landings would actually be less mileage for me than AC. Would have never guessed that.

Is that good or what?

Is that your only 'big' trip for the year? How far is most of your boating done from your slip?

Doug

It is definitely the "long" trip of the year.

Some days we go 2 or 3 miles and drop anchor. Some days we'll go 50 - 100 miles at a time. With the occasional run up the Bay to join some of the other miscreants on this forum.

Did you have fun at your wedding?

When Rick and Gary say they're going on the trip, it means they'll be crossing few states....LOL.

But seriously, we have to give big credit to falks who travel very long distances to participate in CSR Rendezvous.
