Atlantic City Rendezvous 2011

..........I'll start towing East. It would be great to meet the East Coast contingent. I'd love to make it to one of these.

Is there a marina in Cape May that could handle this many transients? Schooners in Wildwood used to be able to and then weren't able to. Anyone know there transient slip status?

I don't know too many marinas that can handle 25-35 transients.....many of which are large

Nicer beaches but what else is there? Antiquing?

Great Restaurants !!!! Lots of "Happy People"! I could wear my Shirt there and no one would notice! I think AC has about everything that we want, if they sink the money that they said they would into GN and the Marina it just gets better! The GN is a Dump now but you have Borgata next door! The Marina was in better shape then my Marina!

Called Schooner Island. Not likely they can handle 30 boats. 20 is a possibility but it would take some early planning and committment.

They don't start taking reservations until April 1. $2.85/ft. Slips are 40, 50 or 60 foot so they can accommodate all the sizes we could throw at them. Problem is they don't necessarily hold transient slips. If they can rent it for the season, they will. This year they have 15 vacancies.

I think we should all go to Long Island. How about Montauk (MYC)?.......Sorry Ron, just kidding.

BTW, do we know if LLM can accomodate us?

Looks like we have some options if we run out of room at LLM. There are 4 marinas to choose from for those that would like ot commit at the last minute. A quick dinghy ride over to LLM and you're part of the party.

********************************************************************************************

For years, the marina has been in disrepair, with the wood docks falling apart and weeds sprouting up. It’s a far cry from what it was like in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Back then, boaters and yachtsmen with craft to 300 feet regularly pulled in. In fact, Donald Trump himself had his 282-foot Trump Princess (now Kingdom 5KR) appear dockside in summertime.
While this summer will see renovations of everything from the marina’s showers and bathrooms to the docks themselves, Landry’s CEO plans to bring his Westport into town come this fall. Tilman Fertitta is the proud owner of the 164-foot Boardwalk, seen above, which was delivered last year. She’s the seventh in Westport’s 50-Meter series, formerly called the W164 series. She’s also Fertitta’s third Westport, having owned a 130 and a 112 previously.
An article in the Press of Atlantic City quotes Fertitta as saying, “Being a yacht owner myself, I will make sure that (the marina) will operate on a very high level.” Amy Chasey, vice president of marketing for Golden Nugget Las Vegas, backs this up, quoted in the same article as saying, “We’re going to operate it better than Trump.”
Fertitta says he’ll have Boardwalk arrive in Atlantic City in October, remaining there for a few weeks. By that time, the rest of the marina’s amenities will be updated. They include pump-out stations, gas and diesel fuel, and connections for telephone, cable television, water, and 100 amps of electricity. Overall, Landry’s plans to operate the marina similarly to how it runs its 424-slip Kemah Boardwalk Marina in Galveston Bay, Texas.

Doug, the 280 could do the outside no problem on nice days. beat you up bad on bad days but still make it. The real issue is range. I would have to fill up in sandy hook to make it to AC. The scariest part of the whole trip is rounding the corner at sandy hook. Seems like every time I would have to surf rollers into NYC harbor while weaving in and out of huge cargo ships.

Alex, dinghy ride to LLM? I take it you haven't been in a dinghy in NYC harbor. Your wife would beat the crap out of you if you took her for a dinghy ride in that washing machine.

That could be an incentive to comeback and see the new place surrounded by mega-yachts. Oh well, we'll have plenty of time to see if they make any progress before we have to make the commitment.

Mike, I think you missunderstood. I was only pointing marinas in the small area by LLM. I know that right in that lagoon there are few marinas (they seem to be few hundred feet apart). According to activcaptain.com we have total of 4 marinas, including LLM.

I would never take a dinghy to cross hudson, unless I have no other choice.

Her: sure, that sounds nice
Me: Ok, we'll just pull out of LLM and make a left here.... AAHHHHHHHHHHH
Her: AAAAHHHHHHHHHH
Me: Holy crap we're going to die... AAAHHHHHH
Her: AAAHHHHHHHH

I've seen kayaks crossing the Hudson river....they are Freakin' nuts.

Wow, I never saw it being that bad. But, I'll take your word for it. Let's scratch that idea then.

Were you having sex when all this noise was occuring?

And PM me your address. I owe you $5 out of the $10 bet. Robin rode to AC, left AC on Friday in a rental car and is out of my house as of yesterday.

You can buy me a hot dog this fall on our way down south.

I think most of those marinas are private, small at the very least. I was talking about the ones on the hudson around the corner.
