Atlantic City Rendezvous 2010

Doug

Personally, that's too long and boring a run for me - kinda like driving the Turnpike. The trip from down along LBI is more interesting and Lord knows I am in no hurry!

You are right, it is a little boring... We will follow the group on the way down... We are in not hurry... I just don't want to follow Ron at 13 knts I use too much fuel...

FYI - Just read on Local Notice to Mariners that at Little Egg inlet the 'LE' whistle buoy is missing.

I think the way we had groups set up (ICW/Ocean running @~21kts, ICW/Ocean running @~14kts and the go-fast ICW group) worked perfect. We can start off with the same approach and see if we end up with 3 groups or ICW group will simply switch to ICW/Ocean group. I think it's a good thing that we have few boats that can maintain slower speed and accompany Ron.

For this trip, boring is good. the alternative is crazy fishing boats cutting in front of you with 6" of water on each side of you as you zig zag through green head fly marshland.

You looked like you were having fun back there...

Come on guys, I'm good for a solid 17 knots unless I run at WOT all day long. I can get this puppy up to close to 31mph (how much is that in knots?)

Alex, I'm fine traveling alone. It is more fun with company, though. I'm sure Jon and his 18000lb gasser will hang back with me. By bringing up the rear, I have the benefit of all sorts of live ocean weather reports from the speed demons.

As for time, I think if we depart when we did last year, we should arrive before noon. Check in is 1pm but if they're empty I don't think they'll care if we get there before that.

Oh yeah, I remember now.

Vince: Uhhhh, what the hell is going on with your speed?
Mike: What do you mean?
Vince: whom ever is driving the boat sucks.
Mike: that would be the admiral.
Vince: Well get her off the wheel because it's annoying.
Mike: Honey, Vince says you suck at driving and that you have to hand it over to me.

John has been removed from our family. And if Lou doesn't stop digging, he'll be removed as well.

Ah yes, maybe by that time you'll have gained a daughter-in-law. Keep us posted. That's for the name tags, that is.

Thanks Frank.

Same info for me. However, Paul and Olga will be on their sailboat "Danianna".

Wait a second! sailboat? This is only a three day weekend. Or are they leaving on Monday to arrive Friday?

I guess last year it wasn't so boring, on the way down, had a bunch of people get sick, on the way home I almost sunk.

Party on!

Ahhhh, did you survive that?

Ron? where's the shaking head emoticon?
31 MPH = about 26 knots.

Todd, I'm blasphemous. I speak MPH, not Knots. 1.2:1.0 or something like that, right?

Yeah, 1.15, 1.16...whatever it takes.

If it's his Third Class cruise, that's exactly what he'll be doing. Something like "if it moves, salute it, if it does't move, chip it and paint it".

I was on the USS Robert A. Owens (DD-827) for my Third Class cruise in 1966 in Norfolk. That experience really convinced me I wanted to be an Officer, not an Enlisted man, in the Navy!

I was able to go to her decommisioning ceremony in the '80's right after I was promoted to Captain. Brought back a lot of memories from that summer Midshipman cruise in '66...

The enlisted don't chip paint in today's navy... They use contractors... There are prohibitions not the volatile chemicals and paint dust... And guess what... There are women on all ships today... Last ship I was on, I new it was time to retire, when I was oldest person ship...

Nothing wrong with being a "White Hat".........
And I didn't mean it that way at all! Maybe I should have said I didn't want to work as hard as they do! My sailors and Chiefs in my commands saved my @ss everyday. I never could have done anything without them.

Thanks Impulse, for allowing me to clarify that point!
