48 DA Owners Club

Anyone familiar with Rapid Marine Service in Lauderdale for an engine survey company? How about Performance Marine Survey for a hull survey? Working on buying. 2006 48DA and these are the companies recommended by my broker. Any input appreciated. Thanks!
Just sent you a PM with the info you are requesting....
BTW... which one are you looking at? Not sure where you are located but maybe I can save you some time probably if it is any of the shit boxes I looked at before buying mine. There are some rough ones out there.....

Well crappy weather in South Florida has me stuck at the dock today. Ordered some Spectrum Gelcoat for my bildge and decided today was the day to clean up that mess and make it like new. Had some flaking and rust stains that I couldn't take. Found one bilge pump making nosie so off to west marine to replace it. Tomorrow is paint some of the woof in there as I had the gel coat paint matched so i can paint around the batteries and the genset. Came out nice, I love a dry bilge. Anyone have a secret on how to get ride of the green corrosion on the bronze? I have tried several cleaners and looks like it is going to be dremel and steel brush.

ocgrant I have engine room/bilge envy...
I tackle the job tomorrow.

Thanks.. She's getting there.

Let me know if you find anything good for the green corrosion on the bronze. I read about baking soda and water, haven't tried it.

If anyone needs it, I had Home Depot scan the Oyster Gel coat and make me an oil based paint so i could touch up all the plywood. Here is the formula

I thought I read somewhere on here that citric acid will also work.

Shaps,

Interesting the difference in some of the layout you have in a POD boat. One thing I noticed is on the platform you stand on in the bilge is just fiberglass? Yours does not have powdercoated diamond plate?

Agreed, no diamond plate. Nothing there but the fiberglass. Weird that.

You should call Searay. If it was not supposed to be there I would recommend it for an upgrade at least. Makes it look really nice.

How is the diamond plate attached? Lag bolts?

just screws with countersunk washers

Come to think of it, of the half dozen boats i saw, all 2010-2012, i don't recall any having diamond plate.

Shaps here is a pic of the diamond plate.

Ocgrant thank you for the Home Depot info. I have to touch up my bilge floor as well. You can see from the pics I have paint that has peeled up.

Well guys I have sold my much loved 48 Sundancer to a very nice couple. It was taken out of its protected and covered slip on Saturday. I will still hang around here until I can figure out what I want to do for fun in the future. I may have to start a Pachanga Thead.

Thanks JB. That engine room looks so clean....

I provided some pics of the 3" drop fins I added over the winter previously, and finally got to try them out this past weekend. They performed even better than I had hoped, and actually picked up .6 MPH from last season in nearly identical conditions at the same RPM with them all the way down. I found with the tabs about 1/2 way down, the bow rise was about even with where it was with them all the way down last season.
