48 DA Owners Club

Ive been asked by a few members about access to the salon AC unit for replacement. You need to remove the entire salon couch including brackets, Base and seat backs. Then remove the small side table. These are simply all small Philips screws. Wear a long sleeve and have different lengths of Philips drivers for both the drill and handtool. You sill mostly be feeling the screws and reaching in with your arm, hence the long sleeve. After you remove the side table you will have to remove the panel against the entertainment wall in order to access the unit. Prepare for this one, its not easy. Some screws you have to go around to the stateroom access door to release them. Once exposed you will see this:

remove the old unit and size up the new one. We used the Dometic replacement for this which is the DTU16 230 Volt. Cost was about $ 2350 wholesale and it used the existing Thermostat. THe new unit is totally diiferent configuration and you will need to extend the water lines and drain line. Also need to rotate the fan at an angle. Electric was the easiest part. Finished product looks like this:

Then put humpty dumpty back together again. Good luck.

Wow, that's a ton of work. If I have to do this job I'm going to replace my carpet while I'm at it. Thanks for posting as I was wondering how this gets done.

Thanks that’s great info. I have been wanting to get to mine to install a flush kit. Looks like a pain in the ass.

Have you ever pulled the panels above the tv. I really want to see how that comes apart.

Panels pop off with a flat bar if you tuck it up under the lip just above the stainless accent piece.

I really want to see some pics if possible as I want to see what i am prying on. I played with it and couldn't find a way to get leverage would damaging something. I want to take this apart as I need to get that lower trim off to refinish as mine has gotten all milky.

Sorry Grant, but my boat is still in lock down and I haven't had access to it in a couple of months. I'm hearing I may get launched in the next couple of weeks, and can get you pics then. Hopefully someone else can help out in the meantime.

Here's the only picture I have when I took the panels off. They do just pop off but not easily. It's just a few plastic christmas tree connectors. A few of mine broke i

Do you know which Xmas tree clips to order on amazon? Do you have a pic of them as there are a million types

Noticed yesterday that my Sea Ray systems monitor now has 2 faults on it for bilge pumps. I am thinking I induced these when I took the bilge pump bus offline installing the new circuit breaker for the ice-maker. I pressed the reset as it says for 10 seconds and nothing happens. Guessing I want to reboot the entire system first before further trouble shooting. Where is the main module for this (not the display) and what is the best way to power cycle this thing? I am guessing it has a "breaker" dedicated for it maybe?

Grant, I don't know what size they are. Even though a few of mine broke when taking the panels off, I didn't need to replace them because I hung a new TV in that area and I put the bolts through the panels to secure the TV mount. So, the bolts are securing the panels in the middle.

Hmmm - there is no "reboot" for the SR Systems Monitor. There should be a circuit breaker in your main circuit breaker panel for the Systems Monitor but if you are showing a running pump the system is operating. The solid brown wires on the bilge pump side of the float switches goes to the SR Systems Monitor. Possibly they got mis-wired?

Well... Let's see pictures

Tom,
I found it... I left switches on at the helm when I had the MFD's out laying on the switch panel... My dumb ass mistake.

Jeffery,
BTW... That 48 Honey Badger that was all over youtube went up for sale last month in Clearwater FL.... I don't think it ever made it to the Bahamas... I found it in a canal in Ft Lauderdale last week behind a house around the corner from my dock. I am hoping to see the owner someday so i can check it out.

Thanks for posting that information I have often wondered what happened to his plans as he has not posted in a very long time. I was hoping the Pirates did not get him. LOL

Little quiet on the 48DA team here??? Raining all week in Ft Lauderdale. Was due for a coat of Semco teak sealer so went with a little darker color this time and love it.

Thanks, “Classic Brown”

What color semco did you use? That looks really nice.

We don't treat ours with any sealer. We do get it specifically cleaned each spring. Should be done in the next couple weeks and will post pictures. I thought I liked the sealed look but once we saw how it looked after the "deep cleaning" we left it.

Jeffery,

Next time you get to the boat it would be awesome if you could send over a picture of your new seats
