410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Hi my second post(I have owned the boat since Sept 22). The boat is a 2006 SeaRay 40 Sundancer DA with cummins QSB's. Looking for the A/C pump relays!
I have looked all around the engine room especially around the A/C pump, by A/C hose manifold and other areas. Are they in some kind of elec box (would be small?). I expect relatively light gauge control wires.
Any help appreciated.

They are usually in the main cabin under or behind the settee. It will have several 120V AC line running to and from it. It should look something like this...

Thank you but those electrical boxes look like the ones that are next to each A/C unit.
My understanding is there is one solid state relay (not sure on size but would guess 1"X1" X 1/4" thick) for each A/C unit we all have a minimum of two. Anyway these relays should be in a small box with 120V lines in and out.
Thanks again

Your boat is completely different from this era of 400/410's. you should check in with the guy's on the 39/40 Sundancer thread. Pretty sure there is a official thread for that era also. Maybe @JimG can help find it.

They do look a lot like the control boxes. Each box can accommodate a multitude of pump trigger relays.

Yup, each separate AC has a control box that looks similar, but they are separate units and connected via 120V/240V AC wires. The trigger relays themselves are small, and replaceable.

thank you. i will look harder.

Don’t flush baby wipes, folks. With every moment both happy I decided to pull these vacuum tanks but also disgusted with what the holding tank must look like.

My family thinks I am nutz, but everytime a guest is on the boat, my #1 priority is explaining how to use the head and explaining if it is not 1, 2, or 3 being the toilet paper hanging on the door under the sink, it goes in the garbage pail under the sink! I haven’t fished out a tampon, or baby wipe, since becoming the head sergeant!

yep, we were saying how it could have been a guest. We have them in the cabinet behind the head only for the kids and throw them away when done but I could see someone not finding the TP and assuming it was fine. Honestly, I hope it was one of our guests and not a previous owner since that would mean it wasn’t something that was done for years

show them this picture and tell them if you’re so nuts they can clean it next time!:)

Ugh, I feel so dumb for asking this but what is the process to remove the old tachs? I have purchased new Aetna tachs, I've gotten the dash panel out and the bracket removed. The bracket would indicate that the guage should just slide out the front of the panel, but it doesn't, or at least it hasn't with the amount of force I have applied thus far. Thought I would double check here before applying any more.

Do I need to pry off the bezel first? Kind of pain as it is inset.

push harder; they’re stuck in with a foam gasket that gets stuck. Try to brace the panel with your hand so it doesn’t flex and snap

Post pic of back of tachs. Some have a metal bracket and a couple studs and I have seen ones that have a screwed on ring to compress against the panel as well.

Here is where I am at now. There were of course brackets which I have taken off. Also I have managed to rotate the Gauge itself but not move it even a fraction on the other axis

I am about to go home and grab some wood clamps and fashion up some sort of support to work them out without cracking anything, per Strevker25's advice. I'll probably give it a shot tomorrow since we are doing NY Eve on the boat.

New question. I have a 2006 40 sundancer DA with qsb 5.9 380's.
Changing impellers. Port engine ezy pzy. Starboard eng the dip stick was in the way. Appears there are two dip stick tube brackets easily removed.
Can I remove brackets and "push" dip stick tube about 3" out of the way without creating an oil leak problem???

Me again?
I need to replace 8' length of premium marine hardwall water tubing. the $8/ft stuff.
This seems like overkill for A/C condenser water pump. It goes from pump to a manifold then cheap hose to units. The hardwall stuff is in the engine room below the water line. Is there code on this?
