390 EC complete restoration thread

Been following this thread from the beginning....gotta say WOW!

the girls all went away because of the delay...probably they are now adorning the bow sunpad of a luckier guy with a boat that can actually navigate... :smt013:smt013:smt013

There are more fish in the sea amigo. It is truly their loss. Keep smiling ... you are doing a terrific job Pietro.

Hi Pietro,
When you purchased your winshield screw cap and trim, did you rebed the class at the same time? Do you have the details of your order with Taylor? I would appreciate it if you could scan that & PM me. I am having problems with water leaking down the inside of the stb windshield post. That is where the wires for the wiper motor comes down into the galley area. My cap and trims are looking extrmely tired. I really need to resolve this immediately. Other than the fact that you undertook a complete restoration of your boat, were you experiencing any water leaks?

I am going to cut in a new hatch into my bathroom floor this morning. Were there any obstructions when you did yours? I looks like you started about 4" out from the door and the shower entrance.

Ken, I also had some water leaking in at the windshield post. I actually disassembled the whole frame and rebedded the windshield and the glass! Also painted the frame.
Give me some time and I will collect all the info for ordering new gaskets and trim.

Try to follow what you see on my pics and you will not find any obstruction.

IT FLOATS, IT FLOATS, IT FLOATS....:grin::grin: ...but so much to do still....:smt013

Ken, it's not that small under the head's floor. You can fit a lot of toilet paper in there :smt001

Nice! Do you need to get a running start to get on the boat? :)

I see you mounted a sat dish? What type?- don't suppose ya got DirecTV over there, do ya?

If you don't have one already, I suggest you get a full mooring cover made to protect your investment. Ever since I had mine made (IIRC, it was about $800) I regretted not doing it sooner. Everything stays clean, keeps the sun off the seating and more importantly- the teak covering boards. I only need to slap varnish on them once or twice a year at the most now that they're kept outta the sun.

BELLO!!!

Congratulations on a job VERY well done! Hopefully you'll have many more years of enjoyment on her.

It's been fun watching the whole process. Thanks for taking the time to share. Have someone take a picture of you on your first voyage, I want to see the smile!

Hey tobnpr, how about posting a pic of that mooring cover for the rest of us. I've been thinking that I wanted to do that and want to see what it might look like.

Mike, it's a temporary mooring at the yard and I still have to set the gangplank :smt001 so for boarding we use the boat next to mine (which belongs to the yard owner!). On my left there's a nice 1988 50' Hatteras convertible for sale...that would be a nice project boat also!

Yes, I used to have a mooring cover and I will have a new one and a new camper top too.

The dish is a SeaTel for Europe. We do not get directTV but we have SKY-TV network with millions of HD channel including Discovery, National Geografic, History Channel, Fox....

Congrats, It's been a long process and I have enjoyed the updates. It's great to see the transformation take place. The changes you made in the cockpit alone are amazing! Now you can go out and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Thanks everybody and thanks to this forum that gave me so many ideas... I hope my work will be of help to somebody so crazy to venture in such a project.
Mike, the paint is a two component one. I have to ask the guy who did the job. I believe is the same Heather (spookeay) uses for her restorations.

So, first problem…the new circulation pump I ordered from March Pumps is 60Hz (their mistake)… so I am now waiting for a replacement one rated at 50/60. This means no air conditioning at the mooring for the moment… :smt013

Can’t believe this...this morning we was ready to test my floating beloved one and... after one month of unbelievably fair weather the sea today was way too bad for us to venture out..
.
So I took some time to work out one quite long list of little things to do, trim, adjust... to damn FINISH that boat!!!:smt013:smt013:smt013

FYI, cushions ready!!! I love them. They perfectly match the new flexiteek cockpit
