That picture reminds me of being in Italy. Whether at Desenzano del Garda or down in Livorno on the water. the scene is always beautiful. I have to go back.

I'm always thinking of how cool your floor looks in yuor cockpit. How is the maintenance with it do you have to treat it or seal it. I remember you were saying its a type of plywood with a viner on it? any issue with splinters? can it get wet or be hosed down?

Savero, I guess you are talking about the cabin floor! The cockpit is Flexiteek!

Yes, it's a kind of teak plywood. Never a problem with splinters, it's quite robust and totally waterproof. I would never hose it down as water would seep underneat it.

for some reason I thought it was all the plywood teak and I couldnt understand how it could take the abuse. I'm always hosing down my cockpit.

in the cabin did you do anything to it? I thought I remember reading that you just layed it down? no gluing or screws. Did you seal it?

Part is glued and part is just laid down, specifically where the water tank is.

Mer-Sea Monster here, I am hoping you can provide some insight.
Relatively new to this forum and have been reading the posts about water in the center section.
When we bought the boat (88 390 EC, 3208 Cats) last October it was bone dry. Had it out of the water Nov-Jan 19. Splashed at the end of January and in a Marina since. Just opened the center hatch to rearrange things for storage and what do I find? Yep, about 2" of water in the center section. The fresh water tank had been replaced by previous owner with an 80-85 gallon poly tank. No evidence of leaking from it. No damp headliners, no mysterious water trails. Dry.
Getting ready to cut access holes to drain and remove foam. I took out some of the water and let it dry in a paper dish. There appeared to be salt crystals when the water evaporated so I'm thinking it might be salt water in there, but no idea of how it might get there and how it could seem to force its way above the water line. Wondering also if I should cut the access ports and then pour in some Bora Care and let it set for a while before I pump it out. Thoughts?
Any insights you have to pass on would be appreciated.
P.S. Just found your restoration thread. Will read more as time permits, but nice pictures so far.

Make sure someone hasn’t drilled weep holes thru the engine bulkhead. Mine had weep holes to drain the shitty water tank water into the engine compartment.

Why is this bad? Po replaced the tank with a poly, but apparently left the water in that space below the tank. Considering drilling the holes to drain the water without haviing to remove the tank. Again, why would this be bad as an interim measure?
 
Drill a 4" to 6" hole through the floor under the stairs, dig out the foam and drop a bilge pump in there and run the discharge line to your shower sump outside of the bathroom door??

Problem - Replacement tank is almost up against bulkhead. No room to drill without removing tank. Still don't understand why can't drill through bulkhead to drain water until I can pull tank.
 
You don't want any potential fumes from the ER wafting into the cabin area for obvious reasons.
I figured as much. I was thinking of using a coring bit to pull a plug out, let it drain and dry out some while I wasn't using it and then putting the plug back in with some 4200. Another thought was that since on my boat the area below the tank, with the foam, is sealed on all sides it wouldn't matter if fumes got in there as there was no exit path to the cabin area. That has changed, though, as I have started to open up that area to get the foam and water out.
 
Hello , great thread and beautiful boat . I am working on changing out the ac unit on my 390 . It’s the one under the berth for the master room . Any input would be greatly appreciated or direction to appropriate thread since I have looked and can’t find it . It seems like I would have to take the shelf and cabinet out to access the old one

the 1990 has the lounge tucked up under the storage bins up top. Remove screws from shelving up top.
remove crews from aluminum angle holding back to bottom.
the 2 side cushions are screwed in from the outside. Look at MarinAir just put a 16000 unit in our 1990 39.

Thank you so much . I will look for the mounting screws up top . So did that whole cabinet come out in one piece? The locker behind the mirror and the storage area below it ? I’m very thankful
 
There should be screws around where the inspection panel when taken out will allow the given amount of space to replace the AC unit. To save your knees I used the bottom cushion to kneel on.
 
Thanks for responding and the help ... this is the unit I’m looking at . I don’t see any mounting screws ... so frustrating. I appreciate any help . I have the exact marine air model to replace it with I just can’t get it out .
