340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Take a look at your sweep coverage. I seem to recall that 22" would fit, but I didn't want to overload the motors...

They are standard automotive "J" hook blades on our 340's. My '03 410 takes the truck type wipers. It's on my project list to see if I can switch the arms to "J" hook style on the 410...

Sea Dog Exhaust Thru Hull - The rubber inside the thru hull turns... The flapper can be upside down and that probably would not be good. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a set screw to keep the rubber in the correct position from turning?

Check the 60 AMP fuse that is on the fwd bilge bulkhead connectected directly to the battery. My fuse separated causing the amp not to energize. I had bought an new amp and ended up sending it back... My fuse was screwed into a blue line, and when to the amp input in the closet...
Just to conclude this post, I finally tracked down the issue with the radio. The connector pin inside the connector under the console had corroded and came apart no longer making contact. I was able to buy replacement pins at Radio Shack, disassemble the connector and replace the bad pin, reassemble the connector and I am good to go!
Apparently the salt air does a lot of corrosion damage that I am not used to dealing with in fresh water!
Thanks for all the replies and suggestions!

FYI 21" worked great. I think 22" would have easily fit but no need to overload the motors as you stated. Thanks again!

Great job of troubleshooting Rob! - and repairing!

new to the forum and I have read through a bunch of this thread. (wish I would have found this sooner) So I am settling on my 2000 340 with 7.4 horizons tomorrow and have a couple of concerns. The main being that it does not have the modified (upgraded) water lift mufflers. It does still have the log style. I had the boat surveyd and it was deemed an above average vessle. We really didnt find anything wrong other then the ice maker. Now that I have been reading through here and learned of the water possible intrusion issues with my specific boat where can I get all of the parts to modify the exhaust and protect my motors. Has anyone put together a parts package for this upgrade? What is the expected cost of this project?

thanks
Eric

Matt50 (I think that is his ID) just installed the modified exhuast on his boat (a '00 340) about a year ago... Matt came to my house and measured my exhaust, contacted the exhuast manufacuture and installed the new exhaust w/vacuum breaks. I would contact Matt for the details. The surveyor should have mentioned this to you, if he was familar with Sea Rays. It is a well know problem...

Curious what folks do regarding sheets for the forward V-berth. We have a (new to us) 2003 and I'm looking to track down where/if custom fitted sheets can be ordered. My wife is not much into sewing so I don't see modifying a standard set as an option.

Appreciate any links.

Try:
http://www.yacht-outfitters.com/ think they are also a sponsor of CSR too.

We use standard sheets - will ask my wife what size. Tuck in the corners underneath the mattress. Sleeps well, no probs so far.

I do know that there was no modifying or cutting involved. I had sent my wife the link for the customs - she felt like it was a bit too expensive for what you got.

I'm 99.9% sure that we use a King fitted sheet for the forward berth and a full for the aft. No issues so far.

Well today was my first cruise on new to us boat with just wife and I. Loved it and have couple questions of things I noticed today. I have searched site but just cannot find answers. First question: Galley fridge runs on 12V but not 110. I was plugged into 110V. Made sure the refrig switch of 110V section was on in the main panel but still would not work. When I energized the battery switches it started. When I shut down the battery switch it goes off. Next, Port window in head leaks water. Have water sitting on the trim area of window and runs down in forward head cabinet. Have tightened the small screws in the 3 window latches but still leaks. 3rd - Starboard fuel gauge reads E. Smart CRaft SC5000 does not even indicate Starboard fuel any where... What can i check?

Thanks

Hey Mark,
Congrats on the maiden voyage. Dont take this as a wise-guy remark (I fumbled this one myself earlier this season with the fridge). You had your shore power switch turned on in the panel right? Earlier this year, I plugged in my shore power (boat side and pier side), and had my fridges running on what I thought was 110v but was actually 12v unknowingly. When i turned the batteries off, I expected the fridges continue to run on 110 but they didnt. Thats what set me on my switch checking, and I had the 110 side outlet/fridge breaker on, but had forgotten to put the shore power switch in the on position.

James - I wish that was it. But I did check the shorepower switch and it was on. I even had someone else doublecheck how I had switches set and he said it was correct. His thought was that maybe the 110 plug on back of refrig fell out.... I didnt have time to dig into that......
