240 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

The grill location and install is really great too however we use the front bow ladder a lot while beached and I'm thinking that's also when we'd be using the grill the most. hmmm..

It's a spot where you have a faucet (if the fire gets out of control), a built in cooler, cupholders for the cook, AND you can grill and sit at the same time. :smt043 :smt043
It's easy to remove too.

I don't think a 12v inverter will work on the fridge though. All you need to do is plug it in (110v) when your slipped, or even in the driveway. It stays cold all day on the water. There's nothing like having a cold one waiting for you on the boat!

This year I actually pulled the cooler rack out and modified it so I can fit an "Extreme" in there easily. I had a cooler that was larger than the Marine cooler that comes in it but the Extreme keeps everything really cold. I actually have to be careful as it will freeze coke's sometimes. Makes it hard to pour over the Captain Morgan.

The room in the 240 still amazes me!! If we didn't store a bunch of towels and a big plastic storage bin for eating utensils etc., tool bag plus all of our bags we bring in the helm storage, that frig idea is pretty cool.

yup Charlg.. I think you picked a good spot for sure and I actually think it looks kinda cool up there!

Did you ever get your trim display problem figured out?

heh Jim... maybe you need to try my drink.... Crown.. it doesn't freeze

When I brought the boat back to the shop to have them fix the gas and temp gauges (they had the wires reversed after the coupler repair), he noticed that the trim sensor wire had been crimped. He was able to replace the sensor, and now it works perfectly. I guess I bought the boat that way and never knew it.

All I need to do now is enclose the bow section using the front bimini and then I never have to leave the dock. :smt043 :smt043 :smt043

I've thought about having some kind of camper top made for the bow section, like what they make for the back of pickups.

Chuck, do you have a front bimini? I have one. It seems mostly useless, but I was thinking of some way to hang some screen panels (probably from an RV store).

I would guess that a custom job using plastic panels would be too much $$.

What do you think about the 'screen room' idea?

Charlg- No we don't have the front bimini. The girls liked the idea of sun bathing up front. Would come in handy when eating at the front table. As to the screen, would be a big plus if you are in an area with bug. Luckily on our home lake we don't really have any. I was thinking about have a local canvas shop making me a portable/temp cuddy type top for the front. Could us it when I'm doing some of my camping river trips  The with the front cushions filler in, makes such a nice big bed  Can you run with both tops up?

That just looks wild. Didn't know they made a front bimini haha.

It would definitly be handy for eating at the front table I agree.

Tell me more about these filler cushions. I have an '06 240SD

No. They do zipper together, but I wouldn't try it. I've only used it when I need shade while docked.....washing and waxing.

The go in the front section (Look just below your side cushions you should see a small ledge around the front walk area. When you put the boards in (3 section) then put the filler cushions in give you one big sun pad area  I'll have to see if I can find some pictures.

This sounds like something that would make the wife happy. I've never noticed this ledge I'll have to check that out. Is this soemthing you would order through like MM or do you get it directly from SeaRay or somewhere?

MM would order it from SeaRay for you. Not sure what the price would be.

Consider the front bimini and working off that to create the 'cuddy affect'. You can roll up the bimini (like the rear bimini) and store the glass under the seats.

That's has a picture of what the front of mine looks like. Where are you saying the boards go? across where the cup holders are and in the front and then does the cushion cover that whole front area

The boards and the cushion connect the two side loungers. So, yes it covers the whole bow section...from the cupholders (closest to the head) to the bow cooler. It's a must have. :smt038

How is it storage wise?

The boards are in three pieces and the cushion folds in half. I fit the whole thing under one of the loungers and still have some room for other things.

Very easy since it is in 3 sections, it goes under the side front seat with the cushion.

Chuck, do you also have a small section of pole that goes in the front table mount? I saw a piece under my seat and was wondering if that was what it was for.
