220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

I am very seriously thinking about trading my 185 in for a 2011 220 SD. The one I am looking at does NOT have a bow ladder so I am wondering 1) if you use your bow ladder and 2) has anyone installed one after market?

Bow ladder is overrated in my opinion. Granted I have 2004 220 and perhaps the design has changed, but it seems flawed. The darn thing doesn't come straight down or out from the hull but rather tips in toward the hull. Thus you're leaning back a tad when trying to get up it. And even worse, this gives you no leverage to get up and OVER onto the bow platform. Total nightmare for kids and adults alike. I've thought of putting spacer or rigging up in some way but the swim deck has been the way to go so far.

Good to know brstephe thanks! A buddy of mine was looking at a Yamaha ( I Know!) with a bow ladder and wanted to remove it to reduce rattle.

Mine is a 210, so it's possibly a bit different, but the bow ladder for me is very handy. When the boat is on the trailer I fold it down over the winch arm and use it to crawl in and out, way easier than the rear ladder. When I do beach it makes it a whole lot easier for everyone to get in and out, even when the water is up to about a foot deep.

My bow ladder was used 3 times - all by me, just so I could say it was used.
So not worth it imho.
Also, when anchored it was pretty unusable as it would deploy right on top of anchor line (depending on how anchor was deployed)

I'm considering installing a Heatercraft 4 port heater on our '05 Sundeck. Just looking at the layout, I plan to put the heater core in the head compartment with one vent coming out below the cup holders on the port side, one recessed into the gunwale on the port side, a hot tube on the port side next to the floor, and one on the starboard side in the helm directly below the steering wheel. For those not familiar, here's what I'm talking about http://www.heatercraft.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=319-H4-C

O
ne concept I'm having a hard time with is how to route a 3" hose from the head to the helm. I think my only option would be to route it up through the bow. If anyone has had experience with this system, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

i have a 2005 sea ray 220 and the clarion remote went out:( i cnt find part at dealer or online is there anyone on here that can find me one or know where i can get one?

I have a remote I just took out of my sundeck. The number on it is M 101RC-C. Let me know if this will work or if you have any ques. Dave

Jeepguy - if you buy one let me know. It would be cool to tie-up with another Sundeck on LSC :)

On my Sundeck, the bow ladder is WAY to short. I doubt if it even touches the water while on the hook. I could use an extra step or two on mine :)

We use the bow ladder on our 190 when we go to the beach. It is too short, but is works and is nice to have. If you beach your boat it is nice option...

The bow ladder was designed to be used when/if you beached the boat not from the water.

Well its summer here in Australia and of course the weather has been crap so far on our weekends, this weekend isnt looking any better! So to get my fix i just order a Fusion MS-CD600, MS-IPDOCKG2, MS-WR600 x 2 and a y cable to replace my clarion unit
Main reason was ipod connectivity and the ability to have each remote control a pair of speakers. We noticed that the music was loud in the bow but in the cockpit you could hardly hear it when underway.

Also got the transom trim switch to mount, and some LED globes to switch over for the cockpit lamps. Its just had its yearly service so it is good to go when the weather gods see it fit!
I have already installed the Blue Sea Add a battery system and feel much safer out on the bay for a day with the tunes belting out knowing we can start the Mag350 up!
The only other thing now is to get the Powered trailer mover so we can get the boat down the side of the house easily.

Hope your US summer saw you have plenty of water action

Well Stereo went in and we are loving the fusion ipod capable system and multiple zones!!

Our bimini straps broke on the first outing so we fixed that rather quickly, have to fix the hinge on the front ladder hatch as the screws have rusted away.
The weather is looking great for the weekend down here in oz, hope all you Yanks are getting some work done on your boats during the winter!

First post -
New owner of a brand new (to me) 2004 Sundeck 220. I think I got a pretty good deal. Got it for $20,500 with 260 hours. I tested it last Saturday for about an hour and it ran great. It had already been winterized but I didn't want to purchase without taking it out first. So after brining it home I took it in to have it winterized on Monday and had them check for any issues. Just talked to the shop and he said everything looks great and it is all re-winterized and ready to be picked up. Can't wait until spring so that we can get out on the water!!

I good friend of mine has a 2002 220 sundeck. He is wanting to put a wake board tower on his boat. Have any of you installed a tower on your boat? If so what brands are the best bang for the buck?

Thanks

Lakeblum Did you had a trailer in your package because at this price if the boat is as clean as you said it is a steal ... Congratulation you wont be disapointed by this boat ... And for the guy that wants a wake board tour ... The question you need to ask your friend first is does he want to keed is factory bimini ? Iff yes he wont have the choice to buy a factory wake tower to be sire it clear the bimini go take a look on greatlakesskipper if not i had a monstertower.com on one of my previous boat and was pretty amaze how easy it was to install, fold etc and pretty cheap too good warranty too
