220 DA thread

I'd just like to say this thread is awesome

I recently picked up a 1990 220DA while on R&R from Iraq and was only able to enjoy it for about a week before coming back here. After reading through this thread, my list of things to do has doubled for this winter. Just hope the fiance doesn't mind boat parts for christmas!:smt043

Yes, just when you think you're finished you think of something else that the boat can use.

Yesterday I installed another cockpit light, like the one as you enter on the port side. Added another exactly the same on the starboard side. I also added an LED light strip for accent lighting in the storage compartments on the port and starboard sides:

I know some 220s don't have these compartments.

Next week I'm adding two overhead dome lights. I used these on a prior boat, and even though they are conventional incandescant, they are very nice: http://www.blazenauto.com/store/1-1...tyled_12_Volt_White_Single_Ceiling_Light.html

Hi John

I hope I haven't confused things with my diagram. I had hoped it would make it a little easier for us to explain where the inlet/outlets etc were. As for your two drains in your shower bilge, I only have one, coming from the shower. The small step drain drains out a skin fitting on the port side as per the diagram. As for the small bilge, on my boat there is a little sump type bilge that will collect any water which reaches the galley floor. You can remove a little wooden panel and vacuum this out. Hope this sheds a bit of light on things.

Cockpit or mooring cover.

You would have to get one custom made.

Do you know if templates for the cockpit cover are available?

Just saw this Chapparral in the marina today, and I love the cockpit cover. I would like a similar one.

I was thinkin about a baskit holder like the picture below but really just looking for some way of storeing fenders when on the move are your holders the sort that hook the fenders up aloung side if so do you like them ?and do they work?

I love mine. I think you can see them in my avatar picture. They sit on the bow.

When I look at your profiles I can't find any pictures. Is there no gallery of 220DA's?
I think it would be nice and helpfull to have a lot of 220DA pictures to get inspiration from.

Wish I could help, but it came with the boat. I've searched for others, but I can't seem to find any.

Stewie...I have the same cover but I notice you have the pole that supposrts the middle. Did that come with yours or did you just prop something in there?

It's just a support pole, but it looks like the previous owner had the cover reinforced in that area so it doesn't push through.

Thanks LetsRock for the welcome!!

Has any one done there own snap in carpet for their 220? Mine has all of the studs already installed so I think I am going to try and make my own!

Mine also has the snaps in place but I think I'm in the minority...I have no interest in carpet...fiberglass is just fine with me.

Welcome to the site. I got mine late last fall. I was so excited I read through this entire thread to ensure I had everything covered for spring splash time.

I'm looking to make my own carpet. Nothing fancy. Figured I rough it in, place snaps, finish cut and possibly take it in to have the edge finished. Mostly for the dogs to have better footing so it doesn't have to be perfect.
