205 Sport thread?

Thought you guys might appreciate or get a good laugh out of this. I put the new Kicker 1000 watt and the 12" L7 in (damn it slams). After having a few cold ones with chasers we thought it was a good idea to cruz around the Marina playing it about as loud as it go. Long story short, pissed off all the neighbors, got about $200 in fines and had 7 cops at my house. Good times on the boat. System sounds great!!!:smt038

I'd love to see pics of the install if you have them. Mostly pics on your subs location.

Here's a good question, how important is the "no tubbing within the 1st 10 hours of breakin period"?? I have two young daughters that are bitting at the bit so to speak to take their first ride on the tubb. And advance would be perfect!
Thanks,
srayman

Towing 2 little kids slowly wont matter. Go for it, just dont gun the motor or go into high rpm's. Vary the throttle over the course of the day as well.

Hey guys, do any of you have custom covers that go around your wakeboard tower, where can you get details on these?

I do not...I still use the one it came with. It has the 4 cut outs from the original bimini, but so little water gets in I dont worry about it.

Would anyone be interested in a brand new great lakes midnight blue cockpit cover ? This one is brand new, no snaps ever installed... If anyone is interested please send me a e-mail at jasond817@hotmail.com or just send me a pm on here!!!!! Thanks!!!!!

Anyone have a prop recommendation for waterskiing and wakeboarding? I'm currently running the SS Merc Vengeance (either 19p or 21p) that came with the boat. It's sluggish out of the hole with a top end of 53 mph at 4200 RPMs WOT. Given the low RPMs, I think there is too much pitch. Considering a 4 blade SS Merc Vensura 17p or 15p. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Is that a 205 or a 185/195?

Which engine do you have? Please add some info to your signature or put it up or it is difficult to help.

I have the 19p ss that came with my boat/engine package. It actually works great...holeshot is perfect and top end is around 52 at just around 4900 rpm.

Wondering why yours is so different.

When you are starting off when pulling wakeboarders/skiers, is all of the weight toward the back of the boat or is some to most in the bow? Is your trim ALL of the way down? Is the rider decent and popping right out or dragging?

When trying to operate at wot, are you trimming up?

Just seems odd as my buddy Matt also has same exact boat (but 2006) but with the 4.3 and he has similar #'s and experiences to mine as we switch boats off time to time when going out to board. His just needs a bit more time to plane.

My boat is a 2006 205 Sport 5.0 MPI. I just confirmed with Sea Ray that the prop I have is actually the SS Vengeance 13.75x21. They are recommending that I go down to a 19 pitch. Is this what you are running?

I've heard a lot of people recommend the Merc high 5 prop if your looking for better speed control for wakeboarding. I'm still using the aluminum prop that came with mine and I can't go much less than 20 before falling off plane.

Yes, the 19p ss is what I have on mine and my buddy Matt has on his (He is "Slacker" on this site, and has the same exact boat as you...2006).

There are other blades on the market too, like the Hi5 and some others that you could use as well. However, I really like the one I have, and think it works great thus far.

Just be sure you stay within your rpm's at wot which our max is around 5k rpm's.

Ok pics as promised, I finished installing the Wetsounds Pro 80's and Alpine amp today, finished the depthfinder yesterday and added a small compass. Also added a second battery and switch and a seperate volume control for the tower speakers. Overall very pleased how it all turned out, the speakers are very loud and very clear. I couldnt be happier. Now to take her out thursday and see how it all works on the water.

Hi Kenny. Great looking setup!

I have basically the exact same boat as you but in blue and the 220 HP motor. I REALLY like the setup you have with the Lorance location and the Wetsounds.

If you don't mind I would really like to copy your setup. If you don't mind, I would love to pick your brain a bit on how you put this together.

For the Wetsounds Pro 80's, do you have issues with the Bimini top opening up? I really like the location you installed them. Though, it seems like the speakers would be in the way of the bimini opening.

I see you ran the wetsounds cables through the front tubes of the wake tower. Can you offer any advice to make this part of the job easier? What gauge wire did you use?

Also, it looks like you kept the clarion system with the Jenson sub. Correct?

What Alpine amp did you go with? Does the amp hookup to the Clarion easily? Also, did you only run the wetsounds on the amp? Did you run cables directly from the battery to the amp? What gauge? Any advice on making this wire run easier??

Are you happy with your separate volume control for the wetsounds? Do you have a link or product name for this volume control?

I really do like the clarion system, but I feel that when I connect to the AUX port with my iPhone, that the volume never gets loud enough. Have you experienced this? Did you solve it?

Any other suggestions are very welcome.

Thank You!

Re: Prop Selection

I decided to go with a Powertech ELE 4 blade 15x17 SS prop. I ordered it from PropMD.com and I'm testing it out this weekend.

Hey guys, Ive been playing with different props and ended up with a 4 blade 17 with a "lip" on the outer rim. This makes it act more like a 19. This maxes me out around 4900-5K. Its much faster outta the hole but you lose the top end. I actually used a 5 blade 17 for a couple weeks and that was incredible. It reminded me of my old 130hp jet ski but the WOT was too much for the 5.0 Merc. Over all I like the 4 blade 17 w/the lip, good for wakeboarding and still gets up to about 45mph. Good luck brother.

I had the perfect pass installed and went out on the water yesterday to test it. It work great at 12mph, 14mph, and 22mph. If I set it to 18mph it surges up to 26mph and then down to 12mph and then back up to 26mph, etc etc etc. It will not hold 18mph.

I have the stock prop on it. I was thinking maybe a better prop would let the Perfect Pass hold anything between 12-26mph. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thank You

Wow, I have no idea. You may want to make a new thread in regards to this, it is too buried in here for someone learned to find and answer.
Start a new post in general discussion.

OK. Here are the test results for the Powertech ELE 4 blade 15x17 SS prop that I got from PropMD.com:

Conditions: 1/2 tank, 2 people, and gear

WOT: 4900 RPMs, 52 MPH on Speedometer at 50% trim

Hole shot: 3.6 secs to plane

Boat drives higher out of the water, straighter at low speeds, and even has better directional control in reverse.

This prop is a keeper.

If your still checking your thread, you got one more here. No problems with mine yet, put 20 hours on it so far. I bought it with 80. It's in the shop getting serviced right now. Hopefully we'll get it back before the holiday weekend!:smt009

Anyone put a Trolling Motor on their 205 sport? Did you go with a Bow Mount? I would really like to hear from others as I am considering this.
