205 Sport thread?

Where is the best place to purchase Wetsounds products?? Is there anyplace to get their stuff cheaper than what they have listed on their site?

I'd love to have either the 3-some or the pair of 485's like you mentioned. I've heard a couple boats in our party cove w/ them and they sound amazing.

Monstertower.com

They have them, and I had heard for less money than most places, but never actually compared.

Nope... same price as buying direct. They're so pricey... but sound soooo good.

I am wiring up my amp tomorrow and am wondering if their is a grounding terminal anywhere else besides the battery itself. It appears as though there may be one on the fuse box but I'm not sure. Its in the top left corner...

Every install I have ever seen has the ground on the battery. Someone else will chime in, but as far as I know, thats the place and why the install kits have like 50' plus of wire.

Bill... I'm leaning heavily towards the Aerial tower. I'm waiting on a call from back form someone there to confirm the width of the tower on my beam. I really wanted the one you have but the crossbar is only 42" across due to the tapering of the legs. I talked to a guy at monster and he sent me a picture of the Wetsounds 3 Some setup on the MT2 tower and you actually have to attach the the 2 outside 8s on the rear vertical legs. This places those speakers at a downward angle into the boat vs out to the rider and/or party cove.

As far as getting better prices on the Wetsounds, I have not found much. The dealers are all within a few dollars of eachother. I have a friend back in TX that does my installs and he's a dealer. Not much in savings but the sound is well worth it IMO.

Ahhh...thanks for the input, wasnt aware of speaker placement for the tower, makes sense.

I have good things about Aeriel too, so thats a fine choice.

Wetsounds definitely is top notch imo, and agree about the worth/value of them.

Best of luck! Lets see some wakeboarding pics/vids in the wakeboarding thread when youre set up!

Hey guys, Im going to put all the wiring in for a sub / amp tonight. Im curious where you ran all your wires, do you have to go around the bow to get from port to starboard. The main 2 things to run across will be the amp preouts and amp remote so whats the easiest way to get them from one side to the other. Ill run the + and - direct to the battery, curious which way you guys have run those.

Many Thanks!

I have mine wired up with the amp on the port side behind the cooler and the rca wires just running straight from the head unit to the amp. The 4 speaker wires are then run up and around the bow then up through the tower. Also running around the bow is the remote line hooked up to the "wiper" switch on the dashboard. Then the ground and power are run straight from the battery on the port side. Sorry it took a while to reply but here is a realy helpful thread that helped me with all my mounting questions.

Nope.. you'll need to run the ground back to your battery too. And make sure you do your best to avoid running the power next to any of your speaker wires.

As for running cables from port to starboard I was hoping there was a trick to run it down through the ski locker and right back up the other side. I just purchased a new stereo and remote for the driver (I don't even have it installed and I'm already in love with the idea of being able to control the stereo).

After this weekend I'll also have reached my 20hr mark for my first oil change. Should be a fun couple of projects.

I wouldnt run them in the ski locker...it always ends up wet in there as the anchor storage drains into there, as well as when it rains water gets in.

As well, for your oil change, best to do it right after running it, or after being on muffs to heat the oil up to flow well and get as much particulate suspended, but this ya probably knew already.

Have fun!

Well I was able to get the new stereo and drivers remote installed yesterday. I tried running the cables around the bow and ended up being about a foot to short on the cables to make that work. Second option which I ended up using was to run them down through the ski locker and back up. They are tucked up to the roof of the ski locker so I think they'll be fine. The only thing we store in there are noodles for raft-ups anyways.

New stereo sounds awesome though... and after staring at the dash for about 30mins I was able to drill the 3" hole for the remote. Hole looked perfect thanks to tips from this site about going in reverse until I was through the gel coat. Love, Love, Love having the remote by the driver!

Next project - Sub, Tower Speakers and the required amps.

Awesome...glad you were able to run the cables up off the floor and away from water.

Your boat looks great, I never saw the pic before now.

I just finished installing my kicker amp yesterday. I purchased a marine amp install kit from Crutchfield and started the install only to realize the ground wire is not the same length as the power wire! It came with a 3-4 ft. ground. I can't do anything with that. After running to Best Buy, Lowes, etc., I finally ended up at West Marine paying 100 for 17 ft. of 4 gauge ground wire. Grrrrr! But what a difference in the sound now. Now I definately need to add the second battery.

Ouch... I can stand paying the inflated prices like Crutchfield charges. In another thread about amp installs this site was recommended which I believe I'm going to use for my power and ground. www.genuinedealz.com

Oh.. thanks for the compliments billandamy... we're having a blast with her so far this summer.

Cant wait to hear it Wednesday! Looking forward to the day off from work and the day on the water.

I think I am going to run back to West Marine in the AM because I need to find something for wire management. The wires running from the amp to the battery I have along the port side, but do to the weight of them they sag down and can be seen. I want to get some type of zip tie I can screw into the side so I can hold the wires up in a few spots. And I need to clean up the wiring from the head unit to the amp. Its clean, but you know me:)

Browneye, that is the exact color scheme and graphics I have on my boat. I don't have the tower but other than that it's the same. I absolutely love it. Nice boat you got there.

Thanks Skinner... I'm really happy with it so far and the wife doesn't seem to have any complaints either.
