2015-16 Football thread - any team banter welcome.

Mark, you are dead on, the Colts aren't sure about the Colts. The run stop group is pretty much all new, so it could be great or grating. They do benefit from a great schedule so I expect a playoff spot.

MM

I agree Mike. I think they'll get to the playoffs, but that's it. It has been proven time and again that a superstar QB can't get you to the promised land without a running game and dominating defense. Should be a good one though!

Super Bowl Seahawks over Colts

Reading this thread wondering where all the statements of the Hawks dysfunction and distractions is coming from except from the so called sports news experts, the Vegas lines sure don't see it that way.

The only player that has hurt himself that much is Kam Chancellor as of yesterday he has lost $93,000 from missing camp at $3,000 per day & $267,000 for Sundays opener after that if he doesn't show on any Wednesday prior to a game it's another $267,000. According to some folks close to Kam he's now trying to get $1,000,000 more in upfront money for the 2015 season to cover what he's lost this season already.

In a press conference last night the Hawks say several teams have contacted them about getting Kam their answer is we have no interest in any type of a trade. It's up to him if he wants to play football this year as a Hawk all he has to do is show up by Wednesday of any of the next 16 weeks.

How many folks out there really think the price of a ticket is worth it to pay these salaries? The home opener against the Bears right now is from $225 to $7776 each.

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree Bob. Those that only read the headlines form their opinions and pick based on partial information. I think the Seahawks were more distracted last year and look where they ended up....one Jimmy Graham-like catch from the Super Bowl. What....wait, Jimmy Graham is now a Seahawk? You mean Wilson has has a legitimate tight end to throw to? Well I gues that is a bit of a game changer!

I've heard a lot of predictions but nobody is betting their avatar. I'll do that again this year. Winning team avatar on your page until draft day. Who's in? And for those of you that don't think that is much of a bet....opening my page every day or so and seeing the dippy Patriot-guy was about as painful as a colonoscopy.

Here is part of why I would pick the Cards. From USA Today

Consider: The Seahawks will take on a league-high four opponents coming off a bye week.

In addition, Seattle faces zero foes in the second of two-plus away games (the New York Giants are the only other team in the same boat).

Toss in the fact that Carroll’s crew catches nobody off a Monday night game, and you can understand why the Seahawks’ drew the short straw.

Strength of schedule matters

If all of the above isn’t a tough enough pill for the Seahawks to swallow, they should chew on this: Seattle will take on the NFL’s toughest strength of schedule, according to odds to win the Super Bowl published by Bovada.lv on April 1.

Patriots looked good last night, though they gave up too many penalties late in the game.

Sqeelers running game was impressive. La'veon who?

The Sqeelers are complaining about communication issues implying it contributed to the loss. NEWSFLASH: Leaving Gronk uncovered on the line had nothing to do with headsets and everything to do with him scoring touchdowns.

We could go back to 2014 and re-read all the posts about how impossible it would be for Hawks to make it back to the SB, who was right all the sports elite news commentators?

The odds are out as of Sept 10 2015 Super Bowl Odds 2016: Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers Picked As Favorites.

This is what I based the Vegas line statement on,

Super Bowl odds for 2016 are out, and there are some familiar teams at the top. In the 2016 Super Bowl odds, the team picked to most likely win it all is the Seattle Seahawks. A report from CBS Sports lists the Seahawks at 9-2 odds to win a second NFL championship in just three seasons. It’s basically also a prediction that the Seahawks will win the NFC for a third consecutive year, showing that the loss of Kam Chancellor isn’t even taking a big hit on the team from the Pacific Northwest.

In Week 1 of the 2015 NFL schedule, the Seahawks play the St. Louis Rams and the Packers play the Chicago Bears. Both top NFC teams are on the road, but it is the Week 2 game that is worth noting. The Packers will host the Seahawks on Sunday night football (September 20), making it a possible ratings bonanza for NBC. Seeing Aaron Rodger go up against the best NFL defense of the decade in Week 2 is going to provide fodder for analysts to debate all week long.

As for the 2016 Super Bowl odds in regard to AFC teams, the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts are each listed at 8-1 to win the title. Tom Brady got his suspension overturned and is available in Week 1, and Andrew Luck is ready to get his team right back into the AFC Championship. Vegas didn’t exactly take a leap when picking the four teams from last year’s championship games to make it right back there this season.

I'm just hoping for a decent season with some good football & a return to the SB.

Good Luck to all.

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'll play along with you.

Think Gronk may have been uncoverd because the Steelers were in the wrong defence because the communications we're disrupted and the on field team had to improvise?

5 teams now have alleged communications issues affecting games in NE.

I am no Pats defender, and I may be wrong on this, but I thought that the NFL controlled the comms equipment? I guess that the Pats/Stadium "owns" the gear, but I thought that the league operated it?

I wonder if OZ is behind a curtain in the bowels of Gilette Stadium??
i wonder why it is so difficult for some to understand that the NFL is responsible for all sideline communications.

Remember football before they invented headsets? It was the hurry-up offense that made that play work. Steeler caught napping.

Winners make a way, Losers make excuses

Since you decided to play along, the coaches call the defensive play in to (usually) the Mike linebacker and he spreads the word before they defense breaks their pseudo-huddle. Getting lined up correctly is the player's responsibility.

Belichick was complaining about communication problems as well and said that at one point they were going to swap out Brady's helmet. Not seeing much coverage about that aspect on the internet today, mostly just Tomlin's whining and ultra widespread accusations that the Patriots cheated (again).

For me it's getting to the point that every time I hear someone say "The patriots are cheaters", I lump them in with all the people who perennially said "It's Bush's fault" and pretty much dismiss their comments.

How about that classy Pittsburgh coach assaulting a Patriots fan?

Yes, the NFL supplies the equipment, the home team runs it.

"“The coaches’ communications equipment, including the headsets, is provided by the NFL for both clubs use on game day,” the league said in a statement this morning. “The home team is responsible for the installation and maintenance of that equipment. Every team’s game day communications personnel are required to work with the NFL communications consultants to ensure wireless equipment is free and clear of interference and address any problems. Technological and stadium infrastructure issues of this type happen at many stadiums around the league and whenever there are issues of this nature, we do a thorough review.”

Actually, one of the allegations is the Pats use hurry-up with communications disruptions to get the defence of track.

If the communications are disrupted the play is never delivered or must be sent in manually. That often, as is alleged, is when the Pats are in hurry-up, so the defence is stuck in a vanilla formation that may not properly defend down and distance.

Do you disagree that the Pats organization has twice agreed to pay fines and accept punishment from the league for cheating allegations?

The past issues that they have copped to are why this has traction.

MM nobody can blow hot banter air like you can. You should contact Goodell , see if he's hiring. Those steelers have eyes, they can't see Gronk standing there uncovered ? Think there's any NFL fines to come from the equipment breakdown ? Do you think the steelers were just outplayed?

I definitely can run an investigation better than Ted Wells. Send him my résumé. LOL

Nothing comes from the equipment issues. The Steelers were outplayed, as expected, but played closer than expected in my book.

NFl might want to think about upgrading those communication devices. Jamming that signal isn't that hard

to be honest, the steelers beat themselves. they outplayed the patriots all game except for a few plays to gronk. steelers secondary sucks as does their short game. but even with that they outplayed them about 75% of the game. i have no idea if the headset thing is intentional or not but given their history it leads to alot of fingerpointing. the fact that brady deleted his texts and destroyed his phone is pretty strong circumstantial evidence, coupled with the rest of the evidence, welllllll.......if only goodell hadn't mishandled this whole thing brady wouldn't have even been playing. but all that being said, i didn't expect the steelers to win last night anyway, although they played better than i thought they would. they make too many dumb mistakes. hope they get it together soon
