2015-16 Football thread - any team banter welcome.

I feel like NFL just pails in comparison to college football.

Really? No parity as 25 programs get all the best recruits and few teams even pass. It is fast pace but that is because the offense tries to tire the defense by playing fast.

NFL has traditionally been, you line up your best we will line up our best and see who wins.

College game bears little resemblance to the Pro game today. Hint, that is why there are so few developed QB'S out of college. Some well known college QB'S don't even know simple position concepts.

Mariota and Winston's first Pro passes went for touchdowns! Unfortunately for Winston his went for the wrong team.

"TAMPA, Fla. - Marcus Mariota made it look easy, throwing four touchdown passes and outplaying No. 1 overall draft pick Jameis Winston to lead the Tennessee Titans to a 42-14 season-opening victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

The highly anticipated debut for the rookie quarterbacks was one-sided from the start, not unlike many of Mariota's dazzling performances in college at Oregon.

The 2014 Heisman winner threw for 209 yards without an interception to join Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton as the only players to throw four or more TD passes in their first NFL game.

Tarkenton did it for Minnesota against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 17, 1961.

Winston, the 2013 Heisman winner, did something rare, too, becoming the first quarterback since Brett Favre in 1991 to have his first NFL pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown."

I don't understand the fanaticism with college ball....couldn't care less about it...I mean...how many players do they dress? like 80?

I LOVE the NFL season :smt038

Seattle will be certainly looking for a face-saving win-win solution to get Kam back on the field that doesn't make them look like they caved.

Unfortunately, Kam made it about money and not team so he just may dig in a little harder this week. Eventually, the loss of game checks will bring him to the table with his hat in his hand.

That is the norm in these situations but this may be different, particularly if it is not resolved this week. Kam is worth so much on the open market he may recoup his losses in his next deal.

But I put it at 85% they work it out.

If the Hawks do cave in to Kam it will set a precedent that no NFL team wants to start, he still has 2 years left on his 5 year contract. This could become a major problem for all teams sign a 5 year deal & decide at the end of year 1 your worth more, it could become the end of multi year contracts.

The team has already made it clear if Kam doesn't play for the Hawks this year he won't play anywhere according to Paul Allen he won't put the money up right now, who knows that could change soon.

Nobody wants Kam back more than us Hawks fans & Team.

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Chancellor signed a 4 year $28 mil deal, that only GUARANTEES $7 mil, before his leadership of the defense that went to consecutive Super Bowls.

He is underpaid and would get $9 mil+ on the open market. Teams always make these contracts expecting to never pay the the backloaded money. The guy has performed way beyond what the contract called for and has every right not to play if he wants.

In light of the AFC Finalist banner the Colts put up after losing the Championship game comes this banner:

Chip Kelly has to be still kicking himself this morning. The Eagles were moving the ball down the field at will with the passing game. Then at the very end of the game he starts calling running plays that get stuffed and elects to kick a long field goal on 4th and 1 that misses.

Julio Jones was unstoppable last night.

I disagree! You sign a contract and it is a legal document. If you thought you deserve more in the future, why sign a long term contract instead of a year by year contract? Play the game for your crappy $7M and stop whining.

BTW, who was that team playing last night in those butt ugly black uniforms? Looked too decent to be the 49ers!

agreed.......stay tuned for a long dissertation on why we're wrong

I can't be talked out of this opinion. Really tired of these baby's crying when they are making more than 98% of the population.

I can't be talked out of it either Kam is making more in one quarter 15 minutes than most people make in a year as much as we need him I hope he buys a lot of popcorn, he's going to have a lot of spare time. Hawks have already said he's off the rooster for GB Sunday.

Only watched 1/2 of the 49'ers game dam hate to say it but they looked good.

Top Post of the day.

Second Top Post of the day.

I agree with you all!!! I live in a world where I expect contracts to be honored too. The NFL is not our world, I'm just telling you that only 8% of NFL contracts are ever lived through their full term. That seems to be the precedent Kam wants to go by.

No dissertations coming out of this kid--we're on vaca up in Mt Rainier National Park. We're staying at Paradise Lodge--no wifi, no cell service, just beautiful scenery to take in. We're in the thriving metropolis of Packwood right now, sitting in the library using their wifi so we could check emails & CSR.

48 hours without CSR leads to some serious withdrawal symptoms.
