Good luck with your offer. I have a 7.4 B2 and its a great combo. I've had zero issues with either, it gets great fuel economy, and performes better that I expected a boat of this size would. The 270 is a very versitile boat.
I make no claims to be a mechanic, but i had a similar issue with a 340 a few years ago and it turned out to be a bad ignition coil. Try swapping the coils from engine to engine and see if the problem switches sides. Good luck, and let us know what it turns out to be.

I had the same issue with my lofrans marlin and it was an easy fix. Imtra is the north american dealer for Lofrans and they have a good support team. A replacement spring for the tension finger is $23 or so and fixed my slippage issue.

I was in the same boat not long ago, looking for a trailerable cabin cruiser under 30K. I looked a lot of boats (a few other brands too) and found the best option to be a 97 270 DA. it's 8'6" beam makes it legal to tow without special permits and it weighs about 6500 LBS. It handles the rough...
MarinMax gear center was just running a buy one get one free promo on fenders & dock lines. Call your local store and see if they'll still honor that promotion...
A big block at anything over idle should suction themuffs to a water tight seal on the drive. If you have water leaking out at themuff/drive connection, there isn't sufficient negative pressure in the system to draw water. It sounds like either an impeller issue or a collapsed hose between the...
Thanks for you reply. I think we're going to check it out this weekend. The weather looks great so we'll run down hte gulf. Does anyone have any experience or know any issues around entering new pass inlet?
Hello all,
The Admiral and I are taking a short cruise this weekend and I'm seeking suggestionson a nice marina between Sarasota and Clearwater. Thinking about the Hyatt inSarasota or Marina Jack. Anyone have any thoughts on those or a better recommendation?
We're looking for a lively atmosphere...
Although i'm a gulf boater and certainly have seen some odd things offshore, the strangest thing I ever saw was in Lake Erie. We were on a friends 38 Sundancer headed to put-in-bay from Cleveland on a very hazy / rainy august morning. Visability was about 1/2 a mile and the seas were slick...
Hello all,
I've had my 97 270 for a month now and have really enjoyed this boat. It's proven to be a great boat for what we do. I am surprised on the little fuel I have burned this far and was wondering what kind of economy you all are seeing. I filled up, cruised at 3100 RPM (26 MPH) for 36...
What props are you 7.4 Bravo II Guys running? Mine came with a 17 3/4" Diameter 23 Pitch and I'm not sure about it. I am getting up to 4200 RPM's at WOT so It feels propped right, but are there any benefits to going to a different diameter / pitch? I'll primarily be cruising with 2 adults / 2...
Hello all,
Looking for some local advice on where to launch and (Safely) keep a tow vehicle/trailer overnight somewhere between englewood and Ft. Myers. I have some plans to cruise pine island sound/charlotte harbor and would like to know if anyone has had good experiences leaving their vehicles...
I just purchased a 97 and looked at 12 boats in the 96-99 range. I think the build quality is consistent during that range, but the 98's and newer have a different design (at least in the 270). I ended up with a carbed 7.4 and I am happy, but the MPI would have been nice. I think they offered...
When you go on pure-gas.org, if you find a station in your area and click on the details tab, you will see recent posts of price and availability. My marina charges $4.85 and a station about 10 miles away charges $3.90 for Ethanol free.
Hello all,
In the southeast we have the luxury of a year round boating season without the hassels of winterizing. Most of the info I've found on ethanol/E10 fuel and the use of additives is around storage and winterizing. What do you all run year round? I have a trailer, so the ability to get...
Hello all,
