1997 searay sundancer

buz, I had two 330's, both 1996's, both with 5.7L's, well equipped, and loved 'em both. If I were buying another I'd still go for the small block engines. The big blocks use a bit more fuel, offer about a 1-2mph higher cruise and sound cooler. But being the cheapskate I am I'd go small blocks.

BTW, I traded my 1996 330 in when I bought my boat. It's in the Detroit area and would be an excellent boat to have if the broker still has it in stock. If you're interested, I have a ton of pics and could PM you with the broker's name. He's a bit of a shyster, but if you know that going in and don't trust what he tells you, you'll be OK. I also have the name of a good surveyor in the Detroit area.

Buz - If your looking for a 1988 270 Sundancer with a 10.8 ft beam, new canvas (camper/storage/daily use/Bimini) I had them make the bimini a stand alone and raised it to almost 7ft. But that's only if you are looking for a 270DA.

I just purchased a 97 and looked at 12 boats in the 96-99 range. I think the build quality is consistent during that range, but the 98's and newer have a different design (at least in the 270). I ended up with a carbed 7.4 and I am happy, but the MPI would have been nice. I think they offered the MPI in 98 and newer models. You really can't go wrong with a 97 to answer you question.

I assume you mean 98 and yes that's actually why I like the 97, better lines with the lower arch. (I have one for sale!)

Russ, You're absolutely correct from '98 forward is the raised arch.
I agree that I liked the lines of my '97 with the lower arch design, my '97 was the most dependable boat that I have ever owned.

The only thing I have seen pertaining to the 97 330 is the forward hatch over the berth. Ours and another 97 we looked at had a soft spot on the one side. I fixed ours last year and the yard said that it was not soft due to any water but was a lack of resin in the layup. The coring was dry. Which was good new.
