Not sure how old this post is, so excuse me if you have already found the answer you need. I do exactly the same as you do, and lay the glass flat under the bed mattress. It sits there all summer (or until I need it) and stays protected and flat. Hope this helps. (13 May 2014).

That sounds like something even I could handle....I've had it with foul smells wafting over the rear cockpit every time the head if flushed. Thanks for the information...I'm off to buy the filter.
