2006 340 Sundancer - The Beer Hunter II.
Engines
Twin 370hp, 8.1 Mercruisers gasloline engines, coupled to Vee drive ZF transmission.
I have two questions: (1) I need to replace the filter on my Crusair,12,000 BTU, reverse cycle air conditioning unit in my '06 340 Sundancer, which is located under the forward berth, and was wondering if there anything tricky I need to be aware before tackling this minor maintenance task? It appears to just require unscrewing the top plate of the aircon unit, and sliding it out - but wanted to benefit from other's experience before diving in; and (2) Does anyone know of a part number for the replacement aircon filter - I looked through the Sea Ray parts manual for my model boat, but it isn't listed...and I don't have a manual for my airconditioner.

Hopefully some of the later model guys will respond. For what its worth, on our 2000 380DA the filters are wire mesh and just need to be removed and cleaned. The rear A/C filter on our boat is a pain. it is under the starboard settee behind a screen which must be removed from the outside via (x4) little annoying plastic sliding clippy doohickey's. (Hopefully they have upgraded that for the 2006 models. The front one is a piece of cake and is accessed under the V-Berth mattress.

The only filter I have messed with is the one under the forward berth (2007 340). Fold over the mattress, pull the cover out. Screen mesh that slides in a grove. I clean it out couple of times a year - makes a huge difference. No tools required.

The plastic mesh screen/filter described above is the only one on my unit, slide it out, vacuum it clean and slide it back in.

I have the same unit. Filter is located in the back of the unit toward to now on the port side of the unit. Just slide up and out and vacuum clean. I use a standard filter mesh that I slide in its place. I like to replace it every couple of months.
