    Australia has a new government

I don't know about that... many here are very much up on global events. Most of us here wish for a regime change like you guys got. Hopefully, this will help with your "asylum seeker" problem. We have a similar issue with that, too. Good for you guys!

    Emergency start didn't start.

FWIW- I have been running those Walmart marine batteries for years. I change them out @ ~30mo just to be safe. We spend 2-3 days at a time on the hook and never have had issues with them failing prematurely. But it happens...Staying on one battery (instead of "both") overnight so you have the...

1994 SeaRay 290 SD Single versus Twins Advice Needed

I think for a lake, that would be fine. I'd go that route, for sure. Less maintenance, too, not that it matters so much. We primarily lake boat, too, but ocassionally in SF Bay, Delta and Pacific Ocean; I like the peace of mind twins provide when far from home.

    Engine Oil ?

That's news to me... Myself and others also use high zinc oils in our high compression muscle cars with no such effects. Lots of anecdotal evidence in this email.

    Gas Prices At August Record!

Maybe it is not so bad... I figure the high gas prices keeps the folks with no insurance off the road and the water, to some extent.

    Finally weighed the 290

Yes, that was my 290 that weighed 11k. I think the 5800# number has to be without motor(s)/outdrive(s).

Time to replace the bimini's. any suggestions on aftermarket or Searay?

FWIW... MarineMax had a sale that ended last week; Great Lakes has 10% off until May 18th. Great Lakes was $840 vs $1243 from MM. Both were fabric only- no frames.

I think I figured out why I have trouble getting on plane...

So I weighed my '92 290DA... Came up with 11,120# on the trailer. Yikes! (Trailer rated for 10,500GVW) trailer: 1850# all the gear, anchor chain, provisions: 350# water half full (15 gal @ 8#) 120# waste full (13 gal @ 9#?) 117# half tank gas (50 gal @ 6#) 300# Total=2,737# Searay brochure...

    Largiest practical towable boat

I was just going to say that... That clause excludes "intentional damage." Don't have to have a law degree to figure that out. Of course this doesn't apply to the folks who have the 8-6 legal boat, but is good for others to read, since if you don't understand what you are reading, then you...

    New trailer questions??

My '92 290DA is 11,100# with the trailer. I am also oversize, but w/ 9' beam. The "published" Sea Ray numbers are way off. I went triple axle, with torsion axles and discs on all 6 wheels. Trailer is steel and cost me $6k (@ cost) ordered though a Sea Ray dealer. I would suggest getting...

    25 HP Outboard Opinions

I run a 25hp Yamaha 4s also. No probs at all. Silky smooth. Played around with prop sizes and did not notice much of a difference. I bought the Westmarine AL390; I test drove the 350RIB when they were shooting pics for the last WM catalog. Just FYI: the interior seemed a little narrow than...

    Official (1990-1993) 270/290 DA thread

FWIW: I fished-taped down my Sirius antenna cable from the arch. Going up should be easier. Going up though the speaker holes should be much easier then down though the arch lights. Behind my arch access panel is the marine radio antenna; perhaps it was for access to mount the antenna?

    California boat trailers

My Zieman trailer was made in Woodland, CA. (near Sacto.) I do not know if they sell direct; I bought mine at a SR dealer when I bought a consignment boat. They didn't mark up the trailer.

    3/4 suburban

Good thing it was resurrected; I missed this thread originally and I do tow with a 2500 Suburban w/ 6.0L as the OP asked. My '92 290DA weighs 11,100# on the trailer at the scales. 4x4/ 3.73 gears, stock size tires. I tow the same route on I-5 mutliple times a year to Lake Shasta in Calif...
