Finally weighed the 290

Thought I'd post this for info. Got my boat last summer and had inquired about actual weight. I got a lot of differant answers. Mine is a 95 290 sundancer with single 454, bravo 3, kohler gen, a/c, maceator, and windlass. It sits on a Fastload aluminum tri axle trailer. Weight for both with 25 gals gas, no water,no waste. 9920 lbs. I don't no how much the trailer weighs, but it is so light that it floats with out the boat on it. A real trick to load. Scales were certified.

Interesting. Here is what another member got a few years back with his 1992 290 and steel trailer:



Came up with 11,120lbs on the trailer. Yikes!

Take your truck and trailer across the scales (no boat). Then load your boat and do it again. Dry or full..........

my aluminum trailer had the same problem....i went to Home Depot and bought an 8' section of 4" PVC pipe and four 4" PVC caps and PVC pipe adhesive....i also bought eight 12" stainless steel hose clamps and a couple 80 lb bags of sand....i cut the PVC pipe into two 4' lengths....i glued a PVC cap on one end of both pipes....i filled the pipes with sand and glued the other PVC cap onto the open end of the 2 pipes....i used the large hose clamps to strap the sand loaded pipes to the inside of the trailer frame just above the wheels...this is enough added ballast to now hold my trailer in place while in the water and empty....

Yes, that was my 290 that weighed 11k.

I think the 5800# number has to be without motor(s)/outdrive(s).

That does seem light. My 270 base is 700 lbs more.

I had my rig weighed last year. The total for the boat and trailer was 10,400#. The trailer is a tandem axle aluminum Loadmaster. Boat is equipped with a 454, generator and A/C. I believe that the literature on the trailer said that it weighed 1,200#.

I also had my boat weighed on the trailer..Thought I could use the owners manual to deduct boat weight for a trailer weight. Wrong....the trailer came out to be 3700#.. That's after I told the scale person I have a full 100gall of fuel ..and other items on the boat...She agreed that the tri axle trailer should not weigh that much. She gave me a slip for 3500#...
I had to pay 80$ for plates..after the boat was in the water I reweighed the trailer. 1700#, empty.. I got back $15.00 from the bmv..

I have a 92 , 290 SD , single IO. total weight was 10,900#
