I didn’t say they don’t have pollution. Let’s just try to be a bit realistic. If you’re going to point at a car fire as a source of pollution, that’s not really an accurate reason to criticize EVs considering that even with a car fire they still pollute less than a gasoline car.If you think EV’s are not pollution monsters your are just wrong…
I thought the same at first as well. But that’s actually a really small percentage of the vehicles on the road. The majority of fires are caused by accidents (Regardless of power source) and there are over 17,000 accidents per day.I am struggling to believe this. Sounds like the same people counting Covid deaths are counting the fires.
That’s a good thing isn’t it?.
The vast majority of fire fighters have never even seen an EV fire. People are always scared of new technology. The firefighters will adapt to EVs, and in a few years, they will understand how to deal with them.Ask a firefighter what they think of electric vehicles...
To be clear. I like EVs for their power and convenience. If I really cared about pollution I wouldn’t own a fiberglass boat with three gasoline motors. I’m just disputing the memes because they’re misplaced. Also, I though hydrogen was a republican buzzword, so I was using that as an example. https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/energy/a926/4199381/I can't seem to understand why we are so polarized that it's either EV or Petro. There is market, demand, and use for both right? Who knows what the future brings - the market may drive us economically to EV or other technologies; it is about cost, demand, and availability to the consumer. The last thing we need is our governmental fools artificially driving us one way or the other. @jmauld - you do know that today Hydrogen requires significantly more energy to produce than it provides right? Any combustion process emits NOx compounds which should be more of a concern than CO2; hydrogen is particularly bad.
Lithium batteries ignite so quickly and burn so violently that you cannot extinguish them. Here is a scooter that catches fire and they barely make it out of the apartment.
You could only imagine the energy release from a hybrid or electric vehicle battery.
What specific kind of lithium battery and bms was used in that made in china battery pack? Seems like you guys are REALLY concerned about made in china products that have no 3rd party oversight. If you’re going to make a stand, at least know what you’re standing against. My neighbor's son used a Lithium battery pack for recharging his Iphone. It caught on fire and burned the house down. They burn so fast and spin and fly causing fire to spread fast. It was purchased off Amazon and made in China. Fireman said they have seen this too many times..
I think we’ve all made the same point…….What specific kind of lithium battery and bms was used in that made in china battery pack? I think you are correct in this assessment. The part that scares people about EV’s is they catch fire just sitting charging. While true, gas powered cars also catch fire “charging” the time charging window is exponentially smaller…I thought the same at first as well. That’s true. But it’s not as common as you feel it is. Do a search for the total number of fires while charging. You will find that you have been misled.I think you are correct in this assessment. You don’t have to actually listen to them. You also know that the republicans will nix that program the next time they are in office. So it’s a moot point anyway. You really are good, you ask and answer your own question.
The polarization is because it us being forced onto us.
Of course it was. I’ll bet the author was offered a $10 million dollar research grant to bury it…That study was found to be false. And trust me. I hate a Prius just as much as you do
