Why does anyone care what people do with their dogs? Everyone has a opinion just like a body part which you can figure out.
If you don't have a dog that loves you, shut your mouth. Do a internet search on the harmful effects of a dog licking your face.
There are no harmful effects from this. So Wayne, why don't you just go sit on your canbote and wish someone or something will lick your face.

I'm libertarian, so I say do what makes you happy. But if you think there is no is no risk in swapping saliva with your pet you are mistaken or misinformed. There are some deaths each year from the activity. So love your pets but please do not pass on erroneous information.

Have you actually read that article? Its bare-bones simple advice on not having an animal that goes outside get fecal matter in or near your food/mouth. If someone needs to read something like that for advice they almost definitely have a lower IQ than my dog.

The same rules apply to children that play outside. Has your kid ever picked up a toy laying on the ground? Could that toy have been laying on a piece of crap? You wash his/her hands before eating or letting them help you prepare dinner? Same principle.

Standard hand-washing and general cleanliness will prevent almost all bacteria issues for dogs & kids. I dont get what is so different on the "yuck" factor on dogs vs. kids. They are both blissfully ignorant of what is "clean" and what is not, and some care needs to be taken to make sure there isnt cross-contamination.

I have protocols for this situation such as NEVER touch my face and mouth area until my hands are washed and will never touch the door handle on a public bathroom.

Ok, NO normal dog owners consider "kissing" their dogs as tongue-to-tongue. Thats borderline bestiality IMO and very weird. The general accepted "kiss" from a dog is them licking your cheek/face, which isnt really any different than a wet kiss from a person, again IMO. Same applies for kids.

My perspective is someone in the medical field with years of training on infection control and sterilization. I find it funny that same people on here that are so inflamed at the thought of a dog kissing their owner (in an affectionate, normal fashion), for mostly EWW GROSS reasons (eg. germs) are the same people that voluntarily swap bacteria 10 fold worse with other humans on a daily basis.

BTW name calling makes you look very intelligent. Is the vocabulary running on empty? :smt043
