Why do people let DOGS lick their face ???

I have protocols for this situation such as NEVER touch my face and mouth area until my hands are washed and will never touch the door handle on a public bathroom.

Ok, but I didnt ask about you. What about Norman down the hall that is a slob in the bathroom and you just shook his hand? On average people touch their own face 16 times per hour. I'm sure you wash your hands 16 times an hour........

Good lord winter has really set in. There are more hits on a thread about dogs licking faces than all of the actual boating related forums combined. Joe it looks like you have made Wayne's list. Welcome to the "Being called Childish names by the Drunk Guy" club.

I am very diciplined in this matter, as is my admiral, we keep hand sanitizer near in most situations and do make a serious conscious effort to not touch our face after touching someone else or shared things like office equipment. I'll do things like use my arm or elbow to wipe my brow etc. No, I do not wash 16 times an hour but that is not needed if you keep your hands out of your mouth (for cold and flu, it is more important to keep your hands away from your niose and eyes) and watch what you touch. These are the protocols, among others, we use to avoid colds and flu. The first thing we do after ANY client meeting is wash our hands and the same for arriving home. We use the wipes on our hands before we buy groceries and also use them for a quick wipe of the cart.

Do what you wish since it really does not affect me as I'll be washing my hands anyway. LOL

I'm glad to hear at least some people out there follow good hygiene & standard precautions for spreading germs. We'd have a lot less flu & antibiotic issues if people were just a little bit more concerned with personal cleanliness. Props to you. I havent had a serious cold or flu in 15+ years and havent had a flu shot ever. Being clean goes a LONG ways, for sure.

I guess my perspective is that I know my dog's mouth is cleaner than almost every person's mouth and hands, so if he wants to give me a quick kiss when I get home it doesnt set off the bacteria alarms like it may for other people.

WOW!!! This became fun. I'm going home to kiss my dog. And if I'm feeling frisky the two pigs next door.

Sorry Scott there's only one guilty party with the personal attacks.Have you read the last 20 or so posts?

You better be too. As we get older we have less resistance to the colds, flu, and pathogens from other folks and on our food.

Our society has over used antibiotics to the point super-bugs are here. We are just a waiting for the right bug to wipe out three quarters of us. With our international travel a super bug can move all around the planet in just a few days. So here we are the richest, smartest society ever in the history of humankind and we are so arrogant, thinking our sh!t doesn't stink and we can do whatever we want because we are so smart and the doctors and scientists will cure anything, Just like on TV. It is not a matter of if there is another plague of the black death, it is just when. I hope my diligence will give me better odds.
