I won't speak for any of the guys with extensive experience in cruising, buying, and maintaining boats. I speak for myself and if you wish to assume parallels, that's your business.
Gaining knowledge is not cheap, painless, or easy. What I know about boats and boating has taken me decades to accumulate. I've taken things apart, repaired them, and reassembled them. I've read thousands of pages of articles, stories, and books on these topics. I've studied the OEM's manuals. I've bought and stored tons of data, tools, and parts. I've run boats in good weather, crappy weather, and weather where everyone else was tied to the dock. All of the experience gained I've given away to other forum members for free. Had I published it as a book, a series of magazine articles, or as a newsletter, I probably could have made a few bucks.
I don't ask anything for it. But on the other hand, when the whining, complaining, kvetching, and crap become too much, I'm taking my marbles and going home. Or setting up my own site. Whatever.
You can have whatever kind of forum you want. If you want a nicey-nicey one with political correctness, lace doilies, and pretty talk, that's fine. But that's not my idea of fun. And it might not be other people's idea of fun, either.
Best regards,
Frank
Are we both talking about CSR? This is the most politically incorrect boating forum I think I have seen. So much so that I feel bad for letting it get as out of control as it is. Pretty much anything goes on here, lets see you try that on some of the other better known forums. I think I have edited about 10 posts in the past 3 years and nobody has ever been banned. Whoever said you need to be PC anyway?
