At Black Point Marina in Miami, gas was 4.39 and diesel was 4.38. I only put in 20 gallons of gas for a total price of 90 bucks as members of Loggerhead Marina receive $.15 off per gallon. I have to fill up now as I have to drive the boat to Islamorada for Memorial weekend.

We were paying 3.69 - 3.89 per gallon last year. We used about 400 gallons. I expect to use an extra 100 with the new boat, but that maybe high. The 496 burns about 1.5 gallons/hour less than the 350 Mag at skiing/tubing speeds and is about the same a boarding speed - so it's just a matter of how much time we spend cruising. if gas goes to $5 at the lake, it will cost me $500 for price increase and $500 for additional consumption due to a bigger boat.

I am more than happy to pay that price for the benefits that my family reaps from being on the water:thumbsup:.

And if gas prices happen to keep some people off the water, that's fine as long as it's the people that don't know what they're doing. The problem on our lake is that it won't be enough to keep the one day a year boaters from renting:smt009.

Hi i am restoring a 21cc in the uk, i need to find seville emblems for the hull. Can anyone help?.

I just filled up my boat - took 58 gallons at 3.74 a gallon. I've boated quite a bit on that 60 gallons as I filled it up when I first bought it at the end of December and it was only $217 total. I'll end up burning probably 400-500 gallons this year and every dollar will be well spent as it's valuable family time on the water.

I Have a very close friend with a sign on his 85 30 ft Sea Ray Sedan that says "This Boat Runs On Gas Not Thanks" I think I will go with him this year.

Mine being a 1976 SRV 190 gets great GPH use! So, that and being in New Mexico, land of nottalotta water, I am definitely going to be in the lower catagory!

I WILL be having alotta fun using what I use though!

Well I get a free waste pump out at my marina if I spend at least $100 on fuel during a fill. That's a $10 value! I feel better already. I just hope I can get over $100 in the tank @ $4.25 /gal :smt043:smt043

We usually put about 60 hous on the boat a year @ 16 gal./per hour incl. genny ... so it will be $4k to $5K a season at expected prices

Gosh guys. You sure know how to get a guy enthused over boating. :)

We are looking at a 26 ft Sundancer ( older model ) to enjoy out on the Gulf in Florida. After reading other peoples fuel consumption and budgets, maybe that money would be better spent at a shrinks office having my head examined. :)

Naaaaaaaahhhhhhh..No shrink could replace the fun you get on the water. Reminds me of that old saying " Wanna Play ? Gotta Pay "........

You guys with the 26 footers, what is your average fuel burn per hour at cruise ?

Chris

With gas creeping up to almost $5 at the marina, the mooring in the harbor about 200 yards from my slip is looking better and better for just hanging out and waving to all the others passing by dropping cash in the water!!! Do I sound bitter?? Nooooo LOL

Sorry I cant help, wrong size boat here, but a couple of pieces of information that would help the guys here would be found in the signature line :)

Year, Model, Engines... that sort of thing is starting point for gettin you an answer on burn rates.

I can tell you mine...

20 gph @ 28.8 mph

Honestly, I can't pay 4,500 for dockage and another 5-7k on fuel to head up to the North Channel and run around the lake. I never wanted to be one of those guys, but I will probably use her as a floating condo this summer...... it's a shame.

DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reviving this thread. My season is over. Winterized it today. Going on a cruise in a couple weeks. I spent only $450 this year! Nice!

So, you hardly used your boat at all this year and you're happy? Come on. After spending the money on the boat, the slip, the insurance, and all else that adds up to the boating expense.... why not spend the $$ on fuel and USE it?

Because there ain't any!

At the start of this thread I picked 5 to 10k. I figured I would be just over 5, but at this point I am now over 8k with one fill up to go. Just in time for winter the gas prices have dropped, I wonder what will happen in April.

Anyway, it was money well spent considering all the enjoyment the boat gives us.
