What DON'T you like about your boat?

I bought it from Overstock.com. 4 Inch memory foam in King size. I removed the padding from inside the original cushions and used them as templates to draw a line on the memory foam. I then cut the memory foam using a cerated bread knife, others on this board used a an electric knife. I even matched the angle of the cushion where it lies up against the bulkhead.

I actually bought 2 different versions. A 3lb density and a 4lb denisty. I kept the 4lb one for my bed at home and cut up the 3lb for the boat. I should have used the 4lb for the boat since it replaces the padding inside the cushion and the 3lb seems like it will bottom out. I'll probaly end up buying another 4lb pad to replace the 3lb one.

This the link for the 4lb version

Link for 3lb version. (in case you want one for home)

Thanks a lot, I am going to order some.

Not many things I don't like about my boat, though I do wish there was a glove box or storage area at the helm for the miscellaneous stuff that winds up on the dash....sunglass case, reading glass case, charts being used, cocktail napkins with notes on them....

I'll add my vote to those of the other smaller DA owners about the lopsided seating, trim sensitivity, and the mid-berth that's a little too short. I realize these boats are a compromise between size and accomodations, but I just feel they could have been thought out a little bit better. I'll also add my vote to those of you wishing for snap-in carpets in the cabin, more comfortable berths and for a head bigger than a soup bowl. Some of my other peeves are:

Not enough storage for gear. I could make far better use of the transom locker if the hatch was a bit bigger.

Engine access. It's a pain to have to collapse the rear seat every time I want to check something, and the hatch still only opens about 45 degrees. Granted, I'm far from petite but still..........

I'd have liked more (any) wood in the cabin. White plastic and formica aren't very warm.

And of course, the infamous, cursed camper canvas with that @#!$%* rubber extrusion on the edge in stead of good, old fashioned snaps. GRRRRRRR...............

Cheers,

My only real beef:

Changing the oil filter on the genset.

Being horizontally mounted and the genset outboard of the starboard engine, you basically lay on the starboard engine to get to it. This makes removing the filter without "spilling" oil down the generator basically impossible. I wish it was remote mounted to an easier to access location (as they did on the engine(s)).

Although I only do this once a year, and if that is the only issue...kudos to Sea Ray.

Fishnut:

How did your light end up on the anchor locker door? We have essentially the same boat and ours is on a bracket away from the door.

I do agree on the anchor roller issue.

In 06 and 07 Searay started putting them on the locker door. It is a factory install. Poor planning and poor execution. The nav light is now in the way too.

sbw1 -
I hear you about the leaks. My boat leaks too. Side windows still leak a little, and the top deck hatches needed new rubber seals, now they are fine. I second the nylon strap too, mine are all frayed; but I can replace them for about 10 bucks and a half hour, so no big deal.

You are kind of harsh on the brand there - I am sure that your 2004 Tiara is built better than your 1993 Weekender was, but I wonder how much better the Tiara is than a 2004 amber jack of similar size? An not a single complaint about the Tiara?

I've not been on the Amberjack so I don't know how they compare. The SR comments were pretty common issues and I'm sure current owners of those years would agree with the assessment. My Tiara had a number of warranty issues including A/C that was undersized for the boat which was a completely new design and low hull number. I had to have an engine replaced right off since Mr. Goodwrench installed the piston rings wrong and the engine blew a quart of oil out the back every two to three hours. The genny needed a new carburator and one of the alternators was improperly wired. That was about it. The engine replacement was the most traumatic for me because I was concerned that it might cause damage getting the old one out and putting a new one in. However, everyone did the right thing. The air was replaced with a much larger unit and the engine replacement was well done. Tiara's main concern was making sure that the customer was pleased and I am. The boat has no leaks at all, handles the nasty chop that we Lake Michigan boaters deal with everytime we take an extended cruise, and is very livable for two people for 6 to 8 weeks at a time.

You need to travel with my family.... on YOUR boat. Coke, cottage cheese, tuna, mayo, cheerios... sorta like an environmental experiment.

hey, I would just like it if the sump pump would discharge water out of the boat and not all over the floor.

I think my boat is just about perfect for us. I don't like it when my daughter's boyfriend visits and thinks he can stay the night on the sofa. But that isn't something I can't fix with my size 12.

Seriously, only two things I can think of

- Cramped engine space
- Genny is loud

Is it expensive to get a sound shield installed on the Genny? It's a Kohler 5kw.

Oh yeah, my wife would like a walk in closet.

No upstairs.....the admiral don't like bridge boats.....

- Bilge is VERY tight
- No fuel crossover
- It eats gas like it is free

1. Too tight in the bilge, hate laying on my belly to work down there.
2. Shower drains too slow, really small pipe from drain to sump box, takes forever and has to be cleaned out often.
3. No place to mount my 19" LED tv/dvd, sits on rangetop, sat. receiver sits on shelf above, got to do something about that arrangement.
4. Aft berth kinda claustraphobic for the wife and cushions not comfortable, no support, need a 3 or 4 in. foam pad. She likes the A/C blowing on her face up in the front vee.
5. Already upgraded stereo, speakers, amp & cd changer; battery charger; new tops; and lots of other little stuff.
6. What we like best? Not having to put the bed together at bedtime, just run and jump in.
Oh yeah, my gally sink drains overboard too. Yay!

After MM finished the 50 or so point punch list after delivery, I love the boat. It starts everytime I push the button on the DTS. Should have bougt one with an arch though - $5K option new but $10k after market for the OEM arch.

Could use more room in the engine compartment, and it needs a vent in the head.

But, it handles chop so well I think I could take it to the Bahamas...

1)Silly sounding "duck" horn. Fixed it by installing real horns. 2)Hard mattress. Fixed by purchasing a custom mattress from a fellow CSR'er (Thanks again Bob) That's it! All other 1000+ things are great. I'm lucky.

My galley sink drains overboard. My complaint is not enough storage, but that was fixed on the '05 Sundancer. I knew this going in, but couldn't resist the price. So I'm happy.

Wish they had made some kind of hardtop instead of the bimini tops. I hate removing and installing canvas... Cheap faucet in the cockpit sink, everything else is just great.

What I don't like about my boat ? It is currently shrinkwrapped and in dry storage until mid-April...

Other than that same things that were mentioned by the other 370DA owners.

Fishnut:

I think I would consider ordering the bracket and a new door. It's absurd for them to put your spotlight on the anchor door. Ours is a 2006 (hull #1112) and it has a nice heavy chrome bracket for the light that also puts the light more forward greatly reducing glare.:smt001

My 270 SLX needs about one inch more headspace in the head compartment. I can't sit straight up when doing my bidness. As for the "equipment", it is kindof a tight fit, now that I think about it.
