What DON'T you like about your boat?

Frank

That exact logic train is what led me to upgrade to the 40....ran aground with a 320 at night in fog, no radar, no chartplotter......we must need a bigger boat with better electronics. Then once I had the 40 there's the whole diesel and bridge issue....It's a slippery slope....so far the wife hasn't looked TOO closely at my life insurance policy :smt038

Ooooh. Good point. Mental note to self: Hide life insurance policy.

Thanks, Brian. Owe you one!

I wanted the biggest boat I could fit in a 30'x12' slip at the marina. quote]

Live on the edge a little! I have a 310 with a 11.4' beam I park in the same slip size as yours. The extra beam makes a huge difference over the 280/290's.

Sure a 40x15 slip would be easier to get into, but washing etc is so easy when the sides of the boat are just a few inches away from the finger piers on the slip.

What do I not like about my boat? Probably would have preferred V drives.
, but I love the compartment space the outboards provide. tons of room in there to get to just about everything.

2006 320.

  1. Very tight bilge.
  2. No drink holder for the person sitting next to the captain.
  3. Aft cabin bed too short. OK for a child or maybe a short grown-up. I'm 5.11 and cant lay straight on the bed.
  4. AC vent in front berth is a fixed grill. Doesnt allow air to be redirected away from my face when sleeping.
+1

In addition,

  1. lack of anchor washdown setup.
  2. Crappy shower handle holder, it rotates by itself when showering (just like Tim said). I'd like to have permanent shower head separate from the sink focet.
  3. Head and cockpit sinks are waaay too small. The counter does allow bigger ones, why not make the sinks larger and avoid pain on having the water dripping all over.
  4. No cockpit sink cover, which would provide extra counter space when sink is not in use.
  5. TV antenna that actually gets some english channels (I only get 1-2 spanish channels in my area).
  6. Not enough light in the cockpit above the table (the two spot lights on the arch don't reach the table so well).
  7. No heat/ac vents in the cockpit.
  8. Windshild walkthrough would be nice option.
  9. Slightly more elevated helm, since 320 runs a little extra bow high (it's not a big deal, but when sitting I would like to be a little higher).
  10. Built-in BBQ grill.
  11. Hot water in cockpit sink.
  12. Remote control for audio system on the swim platform.

For me it is not really to much that I dislike. I think I would prefer an all hardtop (No canvas top) and all glass windshield. I really like the way the Sundancer 60's cockpit is closed off for example.

But....if there is one bone of contention. I would go with documentation. Documentation should be provided showing how all of the piece parts are connected and operate to include better locations diagrams drawn for each individual model.

savignr, a walk thru wind shield will then cause major leaks during rain and bow splash, and that is worse than having to walk around.

Good Point, I had not heard that they leak?
When I got the boat my 7yr old son and friends would want to hang with the older girls up front.. so they would be back and forth all day long, wasn’t bad if it was calm but if there was some chop, that would get me nervous.. By the end of the year I trusted him… (yes with a life jacket) But his friends still get me nervous..

Mike,

Thanks for the encouragement to move up. I will take it up with the Admiral tonight.

She will immediately point out that this will not happen until I can back my boat into the slip better than I do today.
I am very impressed that you can put a boat with 11.4 beam into 12'. I sweat the 15" per side that I have.
YOU DA MAN !!!

How much space you have in your slip sounds like a poll?

I built my boat and it's not a Sea Ray...... shhhhhh. Many of my own ideas were incorporated in the boat's design.

I like everything about the boat except for the kitty Cat power plant which has been a BIG, BIG, BIG disappointment. :smt009 Did I mention that the Cat power plant has been a BIG disappointment?

SR only put 4 TV’s on my boat. Unfortunately, there are places on the boat where you can’t see any of them, like in the heads or shower.
