What’s an assault weapon?

You'll see I posted a week or so ago to Mary that most hunting rifles are more powerful than an AR. These are sport guns that are a small caliber compared to other rifles. A .270, .308, or 30.06 (all hunting rifles) are much more powerful than the .223 AR-15's.

More powerfull yes but don't fit the assault weapon criteria which is.
collapsible stock
flash suppressor
high capacity magazine
pistol grip stock

Not cosmetic my friend. Bayonet lug I forgot. So that gun is legal in Fl. but take a state like Ma. where you are only allowed 3 of the 5. Brush up on the laws Timmy.

WTF, dude
Unless you’re taking the libta@rd side of this argument, my comments were meant to point out the stupidity of using cosmetic features that do NOTHING to increase the lethality.

In other words, totally ridiculous.

Also, it’s hard enough keeping track of one or two states laws, sorry I’m not up on all of them for you Scoffy :p.

I miss waxing threads.... you know Mary has been gone since Saturday... and you guys are still arguing with each other over what an assault rifle is

If you own one you need to know the law. As far as lethal aspects go.
Flash suppressor conceals your position
High capacity mag. Do I have to explain that ?
collapsible stock. Makes it easier to conceal.
Still think these are cosmetic? Most states don't.

Ha ha haaaaaa! Funniest fkn thing I seen on here long time! Wanna know an assault weapon? My daughter when she pissed off at the old man (me)! Bitch is crazy!

I’m aware of law in MY state.

Yes,
They are cosmetic features.

Flash hider does little to no good in daylight.

I can change magazines quickly enough that I see no significant difference between a 5 rd hunting mag and a standard capacity one.

Collapsible stocks don’t go short enough to be that helpful for concealment.

To not be strictly cosmetic, you’re telling me that an AR with none of those features is suddenly less lethal to one of these @$$hats that’s doing the shootings.

BS.

That’s just gender:confused: They’re ALL crazy at times :D

Of course I frequently deserve it since instead of “happy wife, happy life”, I more agree with “slightly irritated wife, amusing life”!!;)

Typical AR might have a 30rd magazine. I can fire my Glock, empty my 15rd mag, reload, and empty the 2nd as fast as most would be able to empty an AR 30rd mag and I can conceal it very easily compared to an AR. Only thing I lose is range but most mass shootings are at close range anyway. Just sayin'...if you know what you are doing they can all do the same thing, just the lefties get 'scared' of the looks of an AR. Step-son has a suppressor for his AR that is interchangeable with his Glock. He also has a Silencerco 9mm with built in suppressor. Suppressors aren't easy to get. Took him 6 months and he has been a cop for over 10 years and is on the CERT team. Point is, the AR really isn't more deadly than a handgun if equally equipped.

You ever notice how they like to tell us what is "needed". You don't "need" an assault rifle. You don't "need" a big magazine. Who died and made them arbiters of what I do or do not need?

OK smart guys, you're right. I don't need any of those things. I own things that you may not agree with because I want them, and that is the only justification I "need".

The AR-15 is the erector set of guns it can be built for a broad array of jobs. It can be built compact for home defense, for hunting coyote's and many other game, it is a hobbyist gun for target shooting. Notice not deer hunting in most states. Why? It is not lethal enough for hunting large game. This gun everyone is to be terrified of is not lethal enough to hunt large game.
Is this offered in defense, to be comforting?....OK it's less lethal than a cannon.:(

I'm pretty sure .223 is legal for 'big game' in the majority of states, deer and in some states bear and elk.

I think his point about lethality is that you are more likely to survive/be wounded by a .223 round versus something like my 30/30 or 300 win mag. That's why most people don't hunt with .223. Especially deer. You want the game to drop where you hit it instead of running and possibly suffer or being lost.
The AR platform can be changed for different calibers so it can be purpose built to be a great hunting rifle. AR10s are just awesome. .308 with very little recoil. I just got a chill lol
At the end of the day, the term "assault rifle" is only used by ignorant people that don't have any real knowledge of firearms. For instance, the "compensator" which helps keep the round from tumbling is often confused with a flash suppressor. The only reason I'm still on this thread is that I enjoy talking about firearms and edjumacating people. I usually learn something also. Even after spending 9 years in the Marine Corps and 12 years in law enforcement.

It is in SD. My 1st Deer hunt was with a .223. I shot two doe. One well placed shot and it dropped about 100 yds away. The other sort of well place shot, wounded the 2nd and stopped about 150 yds away. Had to cut its throat with a knife. That was an awful 1st experience which kept me up at night. I’ve since been using my 6.8spc which is a .270 bullet.
