I'm thinking we haven't heard from it for a while. Maybe they're thinking that either they've done their damage, or realized they're not going to sway this crowd.
 
You know folks I kinda laugh every time this crap comes up. Folks want mental health in the background checks, hell I don’t know a single PO who doesn’t. But those same touchy-feely folks that want it are the same ones who must have their civil liberties protected.

NO ONE is allowed to look into your mental health records, why? HIPPA! The same folks that cry for Gun Regulations, Red Flag, and all the other stupid ass no foundation laws insist on those records be protected! But damn how good they look when someone has no knowledge of the current regulations or they want your vote!

So let’s do some common sense thinking and make those into laws.
Real background checks, Mental Health background checks, GunShop sales only. Once the new laws are worked out trash the rest. Make it easier to enforce and understand.

Mary all I see from you here are knee jerk reactions, you and thousands of others have the same thoughts, but until you and those others want to do more than voice your uneducated opinions.. there well be fights and differences.

Ya see, Mary, you just identified a big part of the problem. I've been reading this thread and now feel compelled to speak up. What you didn't recognize or realize is it isn't the Second Amendment that is taking innocent lives, it is PEOPLE who are taking those lives. People with a mental health problem or with a grudge or a racial bias.

What ever the reason they do it, it's NOT the Second Amendment, it's the nut behind the trigger that's doing it. We already have laws that, with notable few exceptions, prevent one person from taking another person's life. The ones that do that don't really care what laws we pass, they won't obey them anyway.

Look at Chicago, the deaths always get coverage, especially around holidays. There are other cities that have a higher murder rate but Chicago generates the biggest pile of bodies so the press likes Chicago. Those Chicago deaths are primarily gang/drug related...everyone knows that, the problem isn't mental illness.


Set aside the gang/drug related murdering that goes on in a few dozen of the larger cities and US gun violence stats would plummet. That activity makes us civilized gun owners look bad. How bad?.......Well let me tell ya'.


If all homicides were murders, and they're not; if each murder victim had their own shooter, and they don't; then we'd have about 15,000 murderers. My example is purposely generous and inflates the number of murderers. They would represent .000045% of our total population.


Because of them, the other 99.999955% are expected to give up their rights? :eek:

At one point kinda hints at one thing I’ve always kinda suspected: Some of these maniac shooters are doing it to further the gun control agenda and are willing to martyr themselves to do so.

As far as mental health in background checks go, that's a slippery slope and not one with an easy answer. Where is the line? What liberal anti 2A scumbag is going to wind up deciding which mental health issues are allowed and which ones aren't? 90% of our veterans that go to the VA would be deemed a risk because of the skittles they throw them on for depression, ptsd, slivers, head aches etc. There are plenty of people that have mental health issues that aren't a risk for hurting people. Mental health is an extremely broad brush stroke.
I would also suspect that a majority of the murderers out there don't have anything reportable in their background. Most mental health issues are undiagnosed IMO.

The ignorance of this post is staggering and an example of why anti-gun groups are so successful, people don't know what they are talking about but believe they do.

The AR-15 is the erector set of guns it can be built for a broad array of jobs. It can be built compact for home defense, for hunting coyote's and many other game, it is a hobbyist gun for target shooting. Notice not deer hunting in most states. Why? It is not lethal enough for hunting large game. This gun everyone is to be terrified of is not lethal enough to hunt large game.

The purpose of the 2nd amendment was to defend ones country and self, hence the bear arms, not just own or hunt.

If mentally ill folks are killing others maybe we should revisit the decision to not incarcerate even the deadly ones, that was made 50 years ago when mistreatment of the mentally ill was discovered. Hmmm, mentally ill mistreated, release them upon society, oh and take away the guns from the law abiding since the mentally ill might hurt someone with them.

Get out of the emotion and look at the history and facts...
