Tropical Storm Ian Prediction as of 0200 EDT.

Probably "chip seal" which is just a layer of tar spread on pea gravel or similar followed by another layer of pea gravel then rolled in. Very temporary but prevents rain washout.
Around here they use granite chips and not pea gravel. If they are spraying "tar" and using a roller, then it is chip and seal. I did that work in a prior life, along with asphalt and concrete. Miserable way to make a living.

Some insight on how they repaired the bridge temporarily to Sanibel

Charlie was a very small, tight and FAST moving storm.

Emergency managers have compared this storm to an F4 Tornado.

The power went out and froze the famous downtown Punta Gorda clock at about 4:20 PM that Friday August 13, 2004

7:30 PM we were all out in the streets in awe of what had happened .

ASK ME - I LIVED IT

Ian was HUGE and SLOW MOVING

Many differences between the 2

Been through an F3 and F4. Scary shit, but short duration. And no water issues. We were lucky on both, they skipped past our house.

This video of the area brought out mixed emotions. It is devastating to see the mass destruction and also inspiring to see all of work crews and people on the ground starting the rebuilding process.

Some of the recovery is amazing. My brother and I flew in last weekend to help clean out my parents storage under their house on Sanibel. Not only did we drive across a causeway, it was paved! Last Sunday they got water, mid-week they could flush toilets, and yesterday got power.

Will be a couple of weeks before full water pressure and normal sewer is available but it's amazing progress despite massive damage.

Many of thier friends lost thier homes, it will be years before things are back to "normal".

My wife’s sister and bil moved to Tampa from Ohio 3 years ago. They all over FB all time about we live in Florida and yo don’t.
After Ian, they had video of a bunch of people partying on Tampa beach with signs how they avoided it. Talking a huge beach non-hurricane party. Despicable!
I never did like that bitch. They ain’t got a pot to piss in, but if they find a friend to rent a boat down there apparently it’s a thing in Tampa, they can’t help post many pics like they fkn rich. Trailer trash.

Pirate, don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel...

For us on the West Coast of FL, likely a wind/rain/tide event.

After having my 450 DA go through the eye of Ian, this will be a cakewalk.

For y'all on the east cost, the best thing to do is to PREPARE, PREPARE, PREPARE.
