I think whatever it takes to get the infection rate down is a good thing. While I agree the completely free choice approach you describe could be tried, I don't think it would prove effective. Seems like some states have already attempted this and have ended up backtracking. My main point is that individuals will not come out and spend and therefore revive the economy until they judge for themselves that it is (relatively) safe to do so. If that can be done with your approach I am all for it.

We are a big country with 57 states (ok nobody got the last reference). New York got hit hard at the beginning. California and Washington less so. But based on NY's experience, states all thru the country shut down even though they didn't have a lot of infections yet. As states opened back up, the infections rolled thru. There is nothing you can really do about it. Masks, social distancing, and all the rest help slow things down, but don't prevent anything. Just look at the charts. They don't lie. Curves spike and now are flattening.

NY did not flatten the curve with mask wearing it was done by a complete shutdown of the economy. NYC has still not reopened they just ended the mandatory shelter in place order and allowed dining on sidewalks.

Looks like cases peaked about 10 days ago and have been on the decline since. Timing is just about right for masking to have been the causation for this. Congrats and let's hope it continues. NC case chart from News and Observer:

No way somebody on PA unemployment + the $600 bucks would lose money if he went back to his 80k a year job. He's actually over 19K in the hole, maybe more if he has to pick up his own health insurance, maybe more yet if his company had a 401k with nice matching that he normally would participate in.

But that is obvious. Nutjobs are much more entertaining. The yale doctor has his views that differ from the majority of the medical profession. So its not "newsworthy" any more than this post and yours is newsworthy.

But...... the President of the United States passing on the advice of Dr. Immanuel. Welllllll, that is newsworthy AND entertaining.

Look, I know Trump is a tweet addict and probably re-tweets before he reads the content or the source. This one was, I understand a re-tweet of Don Jr.'s original re-tweet. In one post i’m questioning one of the richest most powerful men in the worlds motives for giving away billions and pondering what strings are attached.

and the other I am questioning those going after a doctor, from another culture and demonizing her personal beliefs.

So far from one another it is ridiculous to put them in the same post.

He isn't in PA. He lives in Rhode Island. I have already calculated it out for PA and I think the breakeven was about $55-60,000 I think. No idea what Rhode Island is like but just repeating what he said. He works for the same company I do and know he is paying $1100/month for healthcare. Prior to that he did not have healthcare while he was unemployed so that may be why he had more in his pocket when he was unemployed
