Table Rock Lake

I got my service finished up and started the motor and realized one of the blue plastic drain plugs was cross threaded. Looks like I need to clean the threads and possibly run a tap in it. It is going to be down to the wire trying to get ready for the weekend.

Do you finally have power back on at the dock? Did you do the service yourself? Maybe it will quite raining by the weekend...if we can still get to the dock?

Anybody out this weekend? Water was cold, LOTS of floating debris. I got a 2' long 3" in diameter log hung up on my drive. Fortunately no damage. I'll post up some pics of the trees we saw later.

Jeff were you anchored in that cove across (sort of) from the Chateau (is that Greer's Ferry) on Saturday?

Thank goodness, no damage. We were not anchored by Chateau this weekend. We did take a swing through there. Some from our dock were in that cove. We did some slow motoring around this weekend. There was more stuff floating down by the dam this weekend, than there has been in the past. The weather was awesome. The water is still too cold for me.

We are heading down to big cedar lodge in a couple of weeks. How is the lake? Just wondering if it is worth bringing the boat down. We have about a 6 hour drive.

The water is still high, but coming down. I wouldn't hesitate to bring your boat.

This has been the first year of the nickle and dime stuff breaking turning into a big head ache. Oh ya loss of dock power for a week led me to replace all the batteries as well. Other than that the first two weeks of the lake has been a blast. Great weather, great friends and great times. Last week we hit the Buzzard bar on Saturday night and remembered this is why we have a boat and enjoy the lake so much. Hope all are safe and enjoying the lake.

Hey Kurt,
How do you like State Park so far? Lack of dock space and some less than proficient owners running into boats on the courtesy dock at our hy and dry have us thinking about moving our boat over there.

Tim...Kurt may give you a different answer....but that same guys own State Park also own our marina. I think they have some of the nicest, cleanest, best maintained marinas on the lake.

Well I made the jump. We traded for a 05 280 with 305's B3's loaded with gen. Looks like I will be back on the club site more often to learn all the new tricks I need. BTW State Park is great, 2 thumbs up.

Congrats Kurt....your wife told me on Saturday at Aquapalooza about the trade. Post some picks of the new ride. Are you staying in your same slip?

I will get some up this weekend when we are down. We moved to H dock to be close to some of our friends. I also wanted to face east and be a little further back. The boat still needs a few things ironed out but overall I am very pleased. There is a HUGE difference between a 240 and a 280. I am pretty good with a wrench but when I opened the engine hatch for the first time I knew I better buy an extended warrenty.

Thanks, Tim.

Jeff, I have to ask, do you use Stabil or Startron through the summer months with the gas you buy at the Harbor? I would bet State Park and them have the same provider. Thanks
K

Kurt...the Harbor does not have a fuel dock...so I purchase elsewhere. I do not add any additives in the summer. I know some of the marinas have the Valvetect brand of fuel and I think it already has stabilizers and other additives in it. I got a couple of hundred bucks at State Park a few weeks ago, but I cant recall if I saw the Valvetect sign.

Are you thinking since you have more fuel on board, you should add stabilizer?

My thinking is that there are three engines so a lot of fuel lines and filters and more to go wrong. The bigger tank means nothing because I emptied it in 2 weekends. Sorry I forgot to get pics this weekend, Freddy had a weird cyst open up on his neck so I had to get home to take care of him.

Kurt...I never used any additves in my 300DA, and never had any problems. Here is the fuel I mentioned and State Park is listed as a vendor of Valvetect....

http://www.valvtect.com/marineFuelGasoline.asp

How big are your tanks? You have been burning some fuel it you emptied your tanks in 2 weekends....sounds like fun!!!

2 trips to Kimberling to show off the boat. 100 gal tank. 100 degree weather with gen running most of the day. I never had any problem with 240's fuel which I buy only from State Park. I believe it is 91 octane, I am not really sure the specifics of "valvetech", I will have to find out.

Kurt, no need to add anything if you are buying from State Park. Valvetech has everything needed for summer running, from detergents to stabilizer. They actually claim that their additives will protect the gas from phase seperation for an entire year, so theoretically you wouldn't need anything for winter storage. But I don't trust that.

I read all the claims they made regarding "valvetech". So I decided to dump a can of stabil in with my first tank of gas. I just thought it would give me some piece of mind. Boat starts and runs well no issues. Thanks for the info.

Jeff, do you use any thing special other than a brush and soap from the water line up? I am looking for some tricks to keep her clean below the waist line.

Kurt...that is all I use. Do you have bottom paint on your 280DA? I keep a brush in the transon locker and about once a month, when we are anchored, I go around the boat and clean stuff right at the water line.

I cant wait to see the new ride.

When we were looking for a slip to rent, 2 came open at the same time...one at The Harbor, and one on H dock at State Park. We had friends on H dock, but the only reason we took the slip at the Harbor because (at least then) it had cable TV connection and the one at SP did not. If I recall correctly, it was a 14 X 30 slip and was the last one(I think) before they went to the bigger houseboat size slips.
