We had a good weekend....between rain showers :smt013:smt013. Enough of the rain. With the water being so high, we are still taking a pontoon out to the dock. We had a potluck dinner on the dock Saturday night. A couple of guys smoked ribs and others brought side dishes. I made homemade ice cream and brownies....I love homemade ice cream.

At times there seemed to be a lot of boat traffic out.....other times not much traffic.

I didn't think there were that many boats out either, well not compared to other Memorial Day weekends. We spent Saturday afternoon at cow creek there were some people tied up but it was nothing like a Memorial Day at the swing. We didn't even get out that way, the furthest we went was Mill Creek. Going under Kimberling Bridge still freaks me out!!!!

Hope you guys all had a great weekend though and were able to avoid the rainy parts, that storm that blew up on Sunday had us rocking and rolling for a little bit though.

All in all it was a good weekend. Like I said in my post, not as many people as I expected. Not as many people on the highway either, on the way down or home. We made a run by Cow Creek on Saturday and it looked pretty quiet. Thought about running in, but I was leading my buddy in his new Chap on a tour of the lake.

We had to race the storm Sunday to get back to the dock and the covers on. It was close, but we got it buttoned up. I wish it would quit raining too. I like a big lake, but this is getting ridiculous. Here's to a dry June!

We had just an ok time at Cow Creek, it was flooded with ski boats with kids and pontoon rentals. I feel it turning into atmosphere of the Swing which does not appeal to me. The Sunday rain completly soaked us and I had to put the boat up wet and open so I will have to go down just to clean her up. Other than that we had a decent time gas cost me $75 to fill 15 gallons, that is about what I am burning a week. Hope you all had a safe holiday.

I was out riding the Sea Doo Sunday afternoon and saw the storm clouds moving in. Headed back to the dock and about 10 minutes later...the rain started.

Kurt...where did you get gas? At Kimberling City? I called them last week and there were still at 3.99....must have gone up.

Gas was $4.49 at our marina, which is a joke because the pump is not near the water and they have to put the boat on a trailer to gas it up:smt009. Someone told me it was $4.29 at Indian Point. Is it really $5 in Kimberling City?:smt021 We used 28 gallons this weekend.

Maybe I better top off the tanks, before the prices go up. I left the tanks abover 3/4 full last fall and have not put any in the boat this year. We did use almost a full tank in the Sea Doo this weekend.

I filled up at Port of Kimberling. I drove the same amount this week as last so I am figuring on at least $75-$100 a weekend excluding gas to get to the lake in my truck, booze, food, ice, $250 a weekend. I go at least 10 weekends a year that is at least $2500 a season. I think it is worth it because; we take no vacations and the lake is like 10 vacations a year on your own boat.......Any other thoughts?

Kurt,
I see it the same way. Our boat and condo are our only vacation destination this year. I figure $150 - $160/ weekend for gas, nothing extra for food or booze as we eat and drink the same as if we were at home. If I spend $4000 in the season, it's still less than a Florida vaction. The condo is an investment.

Jeff,

Gas did go up for Memorial day at Kimberling. The weekend before it was 3.99 I think it went up to 4.49. Hoping maybe it will go back down now that the BIG weekend is over. We filled up at 3.99 and our bill was $489.00 holy cow that was with tanks 1/2 full.

I don't even want to think about what every weekend cost....JUST DO IT!! is my new motto. We didn't even seem to run around alot but apparently we did, we are almost back down to 1/2 tanks!! YIKES!! I think we need to sit more.

Kurt, you are right there were a lot of kids in ski boats (drinking a lot) and rental pontoons out there. I do see it turning into the swing atmosphere. We don't usually go to the swing either because I usually have my kids with me and there are some things I just don't think they need to see. :wow:

But we met up with some friends that were already there so what to do? LOL next time maybe suggest they meet up with us.

Hello Kids!!! (they thought they could lose me by changing rooms/ blog areas...Heh)
The storm on Sunday afternoon was a bit of excitement as our new 38 owner was docking as the massive gust front came through...we got him in just fine. Otherwise I was at my post, on the end of the dock, good music playin a bit loud and waving like the Mayor of Tablerock. But hey...just doin my job...
It was great seeing people out on the water and at times the traffic through Port of Kimberling was very steady and the water a bit rough. But...we're off and running and Im anxious to get back.
We are starting a 2 week promo in conjuction with Bass Pro called "The Great American Boat Sale" and we'll have a display on their store lot including our new 44 Sundancer. This will stretch us a bit thin on people to cover the store, the show and the dock.
Its just another day in paradise...stay safe all...

Ray,

I thought you were the Mayor of Table Rock. Just let me know when you want me to come on as another sales person (do we get a discount?) LOL Tony said he "wished we had an ice maker." I told him time to start shopping for a bigger boat!!

I stayed away from the gas dock as much as possible so I didn't get to say HI, maybe next weekend!! I am already counting the days!

Just checking on how everyones weekend was. We experienced very little boat traffic but tremendous winds up to 30mph. Lost my first anchor of the year, I usually go through about 3-4 so it is little loss. However Freddie my dog lost a toenail this weekend. He bleed pretty bad and sort of sobered us up as we cleaned and dressed his wounds. It was rather comforting in that everyone around us came to his aid with gauze and neosporin and cleaner. Go figure I didn't have any. (I have been a nurse for 15 years)

Hey Kurt....we had a good weekend. We were only down Sunday afternoon. There didn't seem to be much boat traffic out until after about 4:00pm. It was dang windy!! I was worried I would not get my anchor to stick with the strong wind...but did..thank goodness. Hope you are enjoying the new boat. We finally have ramp extensions on our dock, so we do not have to take a pontoon out to the dock...it is so much nicer to be able to walk on the dock.

What kind of anchor did you lose? If you are interested I have the name of the company that sells anchors to Sea Ray...let me know if you want it.

I was surprised at how little boat traffic there was. None of the rental condos in our complex were rented either:huh:. The wind was tough, but the boys wanted to try out the new wakeboard so I had to find calm water. We had white caps on the north side of the 86 bridge, but the cove on the south side of the bridge was almost glass. All in all, a great weekend:thumbsup:.

Kurt...how old is Fred? We had a Basset for 12 or 13 years....I love those big fat paws and droopy eyes.

I try never to spend to much on anchors because I will lose them eventually. White caps is a fair statement, I cleaned the boat before we went out then it was sprayed from the white caps and wind so I wasted my time. The boat was spotted in 10 minutes. We are headed south next weekend so I will do a drive by of the Harbor. I have not heard from my lake friends (Wehrs) all year. Cheers all, k

Tim...I was talking to a guy on our dock that has a Malibu or Mastercraft...and he said they went south of the 86 bridge towards Cricket Creek and it was very smooth. The rest of the lake was rough....my kids were even tired of riding the Sea Doo.

Jeff,
That is the norm. If it's windy on our side of the bridge, it is usually calm on the otherside - don't tell anybody though:lol:. The cove there can get crowded sometimes, so it's hit or miss.
