Super Bowl 2014 Broncos/Seahawk thread

Mike, your post was out of line but you are entitled to your opinion.

What exactly is "out of line"? Telling folks the truthful baggage they may not know about Pete Carroll and the PED violations? I will remove anything not factual from my post. We all have opinions of teams and coaches around the league, but that one team can so quickly become so noted for negative comments being made about them, on national social media, in such a short period of time is astonishing.

The link, I posted, to the post from a local Seattle Seahawks blog, has been removed sometime overnight. I wonder why? LOL

But you make it sound like Pete Carroll is the first and only coach in organized sports to do what it takes to win. C'mon, let's be a bit realistic. Can you say Bounty Gate? It's fairly obvious that many, many players and coaches in all pro sports find ways to win that are less than ethical. I had a friend that was an exterminator and he told me that for every mouse you see there are 7 more you don't see. With that analogy, how many more are there that haven't been, or were never, caught. The teams you mentioned that did not have PED suspensions just didn't get caught. You would be extremely naïve to think that NO one didn't bend a rule. Do you think that Sean Peyton was the first and only coach that had a bounty system?

As for Richard Sherman, read this story posted on FOXSports.com by Clay Travis. I had the day off today and listen to a lot of sports talk on the radio while working on the boat and heard a lot of the same talk. Jim Rome applauded Mr. Sherman for not giving the same boring clichéd answers that most other jocks give.

Ah, the old "they all do it defense" Unequivocally, NO they do not. That why I respect some coaches more than others, you missed a couple that should be listed in your post as well, Mr. Spygate and Spygate Jr. By your reasoning we should give back Lance Armstrong's 7 Tour de France titles, forget all the juiced hitters in baseball, and what the heck, let's just let high school kids use PED's as well, after all, "they all do it". I am not naïve enough to believe that some do not get caught, but what that implies is the Seattle was not adept at hiding their PED use.

As for Mr. Sherman, it is my opinion he is seeking and may well get the position Ray Lewis vacated in the NFL. From my reading he is smart, educated, and motivated to build a persona and promote himself. It is noteworthy that he did not mention the team being great, only himself in the clips I saw. I listen to sports talk whenever I can, but the channel changes when Rome comes on, I'm a "Mike and Mike" kind of guy, so no authority there. LOL

Count me in for the avatar bet!

Scott, I'm going to enjoy seeing your posts with the Hawk helmet up there!

Scott I'll hang with you for the Denver Manning’s. If we lose I'll have a priest on standby for the May 9th exorcism of the Hawks avatar.
Wonder if father Sarducci will be available?

I'm in for the bet!

Mike, I never said I (as in me) condone the use of PED or cheating but make it sound like Carroll is the only coach that looked the other way. That's where I felt you were naive. You clearly have a personal thing for Pete Carroll to single him out for his coaching. So do you believe the Seahawks have had the success they have had because they cheated? You haven't really said that but it is strongly implied. And I'm sorry but I don't take everything I read as total fact.

I am a Seahawks fan but I am not defending Pete Carroll or the players that have used PEDs but I am not in that locker room and I can't really say for sure what goes on in the coach's mind. Do you really think that a coach wants to lose some of his best players to suspensions? That doesn't make sense. You say he must condone the use. Really??

As for the Seahawks being the most hated team in the NFL....so what? I'm OK with that. Twenty-thirty years ago the Dallas Cowboys were the most hated team in football. Why? Because they were good and won a lot. Every sports dynasty has had its haters but in our era it seems more prevelant because of the internet and social media.

So you and I will never agree with each other and I think its OK to disagree. Even though I didn't like your post I respected it. It was well thought out and backed up with the facts that are available. And I also respect you because you are a Boater and being a True Boater trumps all.

Cheating or not I think it will be one he!! of a game. And remember, if your not cheating, you're not trying. Just kidding

Thanks for your insight NorCalBoater I really haven't any ill will toward the Seahawks until Carroll came along. I liked Holmgren, Hasselbeck, and currently Wilson.

I don't have a horse in the race but since I've said so much here, if Seattle wins I will fly the avatar for you guys per the rules.

I won't jinx my boys again. I love the Hawks soul deep. I bet on them against Pittsburgh in the 2005 SuperBowl. We lost. I did it again this year against Scott and his Indy Colts...we lost and the Colts avatar was on my screen for an excruciating month. SO.........I'll I'm all in with my SeaHawks, but won't wager against it.

In regards to the PED accusations and all that crap, I've worked for the Seahawks when I was their locksmith/security consultant for the stadium(before that company I was laid off from subsequently shut their doors). I know for a fact Pete didn't know, so those with those opinions can keep them in their mouths; they know not of what they speak. I won't go into detail but let's just say I've been privy to conversations.

Come on Island. Put some skin in the bet.:smt043

Ah heck your right! Scott put me down for the Seahawks!! whoohoo

Hoping I won't need help with the avatar thingy!! haha

Oooo hey, I'm not a sponsor anymore......I can change that!

There all better!haha

I'm picking Denver. Would love to see Manning go out on top (or at least get another trophey so he doesn't have to play secodn fiddle to Eli). I think the biggest thing is if Denver can stop Lynch. Not too worried about Russels arm because I think he's overrated but Lynch is a different story. Weather is suppose to be in the 20's but then again both teams are use to playing in the cold. If Manning is on like he was against the Pats then it's Denver all the way.

This promises to be a good game with the NFL's #1 offense going up against the NFL's #1 defense.

It'll be interesting to see how Peyton does if he's forced out of the pocket, and if his receivers are well covered by the Hawks.

I became a Broncos fan after a pretty lame and childish interview/screaming by the Seawawks player the other day....QB? Don't know his name just his actions! Maybe it's just a first impression issue but I'd rather be boating than watching the Super Bowl to begin with......just sayin. I always like Green Bay or the Dolphins anyways but I was just a kid then, Mike.

CV, that would be the cornerback Richard Sherman.(AKA Jerk) The QB is Russell Wilson a class act in my opinion. Wide receiver Mike Crabtree and Sherman were exchanging "personal greetings" throughout the game with it climaxing with Sherman knocking the go ahead pass away from Crabtree and into the hands of another Hawk player pretty much ending the game. Crabtree grabbed Shermans facemask as they again exchanged greetings.

Shermans ensuing comments both frightened the interviewer and pretty much verified the jerk he is.
