A few years back, I really dreamed of moving up to a bigger semi-production sport fisherman with an enclosed bridge. The Bertram 630E was/is my favorite:
However, over the last few years, I think I want something a little more fuel effecient and centered around cruising for extended periods of time. Something with "real furniture" and not foam covered plywood... So I've been casually looking at various semi-displacement hull boats like the Grand Banks Aleutian series:
or Marlow Yachts:
with a nice livable interior:
There's a guy slipped behind me that has an Alaskan Yacht... it's bigger than the one in this picture:
It has a big built-in Fire Magic outdoor gas grill on the upper sun deck area... very nice. No cheap-o electric grill.
The semi-displacement trawler style boats like that can still cruise at 17-20 knots if need be and have protected running gear.
I also still like the full displacement trawler style boats but you have to have some length on them to get the cruise up over 10 knots. Nordhavn is still my favorite in that category. Check this baby out:
Not really into the Viking Sport Cruiser or Lazarra style yachts... they are great looking but I'm starting to prefer the old-man style boats.
It's a dream right now... When the kids are all gone and I can downsize the house... maybe...
