So if I did not buy a Sea Ray I would buy...

A few years back, I really dreamed of moving up to a bigger semi-production sport fisherman with an enclosed bridge. The Bertram 630E was/is my favorite:

However, over the last few years, I think I want something a little more fuel effecient and centered around cruising for extended periods of time. Something with "real furniture" and not foam covered plywood... So I've been casually looking at various semi-displacement hull boats like the Grand Banks Aleutian series:

or Marlow Yachts:

with a nice livable interior:

There's a guy slipped behind me that has an Alaskan Yacht... it's bigger than the one in this picture:

It has a big built-in Fire Magic outdoor gas grill on the upper sun deck area... very nice. No cheap-o electric grill.

The semi-displacement trawler style boats like that can still cruise at 17-20 knots if need be and have protected running gear.

I also still like the full displacement trawler style boats but you have to have some length on them to get the cruise up over 10 knots. Nordhavn is still my favorite in that category. Check this baby out:

Not really into the Viking Sport Cruiser or Lazarra style yachts... they are great looking but I'm starting to prefer the old-man style boats.

It's a dream right now... When the kids are all gone and I can downsize the house... maybe...

Crap....my kids are gone, my house has been downsized, I don't have to buy business suits anymore, and still, something like that Nordhavn just ain't gonna happen! What did I do wrong?

Must be too early for him.

As an Economics major in college one of the first things we always did was list out the assumptions before attacking a question/problem. So the assumption here is "I want to buy a XX foot Sea Ray Model/Make but cannot not because <insert reason> so now I will buy the <insert boat>/next best thing in my opinion"

Obviously you slept during college or at least in econ. Had you been paying attention, you never would have bought a boat.:smt021

I've changed my mind... due to unforeseen stockmarket issues...

I really don't like colored hulls though...

I may have to do a similar move too. During the meantime I have installed this on my boat:

Four Suns, Bigal, I am laughing my butt off...thanks for the morning funny.

Gary, on-line at 5:30 AM? Stop worrying about the market, go back to bed...dream of bigger old man boats. In 4+ weeks when the market rebounds all of this worrying and talk will be forgotten....

This house wakes up early... Wife goes to work at 6:30 AM and I have to get the kids ready for school.

Plus.. I wanted to see if someone had gone to jail yet.

anything that doesn't use cheap plywood under the upholstery!!!!!! My pet peeve with Sea Ray. I have had two Sea Rays and that wood always rots out.

Tiara 3500/3700/3800.....still thinking about it though. We like the room they offer for diving/fishing (although we don't fish). Teak interiors we like, straight drives we like, walk around room we like. We just think they are a quality boat. Maybe maybe.....still in the discovery mode.
