Selling my 290 Sundancer!

RE Jasper Engines - I have no personal experience with them either, but I've always heard good things about their engines, particularly in Aviation circles. I would reason that if they can impress the aviation community, then they probably do well in other areas too.

Congrats on the quick sale of your boat, btw.

Aircraft engines have to meet a higher spec to pass Fed Aviation standards.....not sure that applies for their other engines, Mike.

The boat with Jaspers is low on price compared to others, $44,900. Broker sent me 30 pics and it looks nice cosmetically (dont they all). The other boat is two years newer with a hartop over the aft deck, a bigger gennie, windlass, and improved bridge seating $59,000.

The hardtop is worth the money in my opinion, the larger gen and windlass is the icing on the cake.

I normally don't like hardtops but on an aft cabin boat where you can take the bridge enclosure down its nice to have the aft area covered. The ability to enclose the aft deck area is much easier and a much nicer look with the hardtop as well. As you said the bridge layout was improved in 97 and if she has a hardtop that means she has a radar arch which is a much neater look for the electronics.

I'm with Ray on this one. I'd go for the better boat, if it's within your budget, for all of the reasons he stated. I don't really have any knowledge or opinion on Jaspers so that is not even a part of the equation on my thoughts.

They also are highly regarded in racing circles....one would think that it applies to their other applications, wouldn't you agree? I mean if 2 out 3 ain't bad.....

Yea but I'd rather have those factory engines in there and fix them if I break them, Mike.

We are going to look at the newer boat (more expensive) Wednesday. If it shows well I may put an offer in on it (you only live once)!

Hey Quint, I just saw a carver for sale up at the lake reasonable... let me look and see if I can find it for you.

Looking at 1995 -1997 Carver 325 Aft Cabins. I have always wanted a mid 90's 330da and could pull it off now but......the admiral fell in love with the aft cabins. I must admit
I really like the "condo" feel of the aft cabins and it will be perfect for our boating style.

I have been slipping for the past 3 years....yes slip is paid for, need a boat!

No interest in the mid-90s 370 sedan bridges...since she presumably likes the aft cabins extra room? Seen asking prices in the mid-50s too...

Looking at '95 and newer Carver aft cabins (molded rear steps and swim platforms). 370 too big for our little lake.

Hi Quint4, Been there many times and I'm doing it again, buying bigger. Sometimes I think giving up the freedoms of travel is something we may miss but cost of travel is climbing and retriement is looming. Where are you going to put it? We are very close to each other, I'm sending a PM over to you, maybe get together and do some boat talking:smt001.

Exciting times Dave, all the best finding your new boat. Make sure you check everything out! You dont want any surprises when it's yours.
