Sarcas, criticism, judgement, staying on topic

What's wrong with you people. Mrsrobinson made a simple comment/request. Good topics should stay on topic. It just makes the site that much better. By all means, have fun with threads that invite all kinds of banter (perhaps such as this one) but I agree that sometimes it just does not belong in some threads and it gets old. Many of you stated in different ways that this forum is a place for opinions but ripped him a new one for having his. Just be nice/adult. Maturity is knowing when and when not to act juvenile.

The toilet thing is serious... If you leave the lid up, EVERYTHING on the sink counter (soaps, toothbrushes, dental floss, band aids, etc) will magically move into the toilet bowl.

There is a 3 or 5 second rule for this ... isn't there

I thought it was just flavored dental floss

The title of the thread is Sarcas, criticism, judgement, staying on topic ...

Seems to be on topic, not sure what you wanting from me.

Robinson - I am looking into your PM. Jim will probably respond.

Yea I’m not sure either….. Good Lord everyone is sure sensitive today. Stocks are up too, good think they didn’t go the other way!

The Eagles coved this in two songs - " Lighten up while you still can, don't even try to understand "

& " Get over it " ..............everyone is a comedian & I like sarcasm unless it is from someone younger & then it just smartazzedness & the generation gap is alive & well (as it should be)

This is idiotic. Five pages of idiocy. My two cent's worth.

Throw another page on the fire.

I recall with great sadness when SRO became the internet transient slip for morons.

Pretty soon the useful information stopped, the experienced "been there, done that" guys quit wasting their time on "but the seller's broker said oil sampling was unnecessary" sort of jackassery, and the very helpful "can I re-do my bottom paint without hauling the boat out of the water" level of intellectual exploration began.

I fear that good ol' CSR is heading that way.

I'll offer that a return to basics is called for:

1. Do not post things you know nothing about. If you are rendering an opinion about something without first hand knowledge, so state. For example: "I have never run a 420DA with Gas big blocks, but the drunk at the Tiki Bar across the street from my Marina says that the 8.1 HOs just beat the snot out of Cummins Turbo Diesels in fifteen ton express boats"

2. Think before you blog, and re-read what you have written before your post your reply.

3. If you derive utility from the site, contribute to the site. I am hard pressed to understand the self styled experts on all topics under the sun who don't belly up twenty five bucks to defray the site's costs. Surely such omniscient Captains can afford $25?

4. Take your class warfare "your Sea Ray is bigger than my Sea Ray so you are obviously getting over on the little man" crap elsewhere. I have met and boated with several guys on this board running big boats. To a man they earned their money the old fashioned way-they earned it through hard work, timely investment, and risk tolerance appropriate to their individual circumstance. Not happy with where you are in life? Do what our forefathers did after two world wars-man up and quit whining...and find a way.

5. My thorough review of the site terms and conditions reveals no codicil requring members to suffer fools gladly. If you post stupidly, expect to be treated accordingly. If you want institutional policitical correctness, Obama '08 has some dead people, felons, and illegal aliens you can register to vote.

6. Moderators can't be all things to all people. If you see a topic going awry, bring it back on track. If this fails, PM the miscreant and the moderator.

As for me, I am going to burn some more diesel this weekend.
Git 'er done!

+1, except I'll be burning gas instead of diesel, and I didn't know about the bottom paint in the water either.

Unreal - perfectly stated, thanks for the wrap up!

Frank, if you change your "# of posts per page" parameter to 20, you can shrink this down to less than three full pages of idiocy.

Tim and Skip, thanks for taking the time to respond and to further my point. It's interesting when I try to say this I get a less than favorable response...oh well.

Based on the amount of PMs and emails I received lots of other members feel the same way. It's truly a shame good folks have chosen to not post because they do not care for all the sarcasm, criticism and judgement from the big voices on here that follows. We miss out on their feedback.

I will be cutting back on my posts/replies and, when I do reply I plan to try to keep it quick and to the point in an effort to avoid the negative stuff that comes back.

I have not read this whole thread, basically just the first page yesterday and last page today. This thread is one of the useless kind intended to stir everybody up, in all my years on message boards I have learned to skip over threads like this, makes for a much more enjoyable experience. Anyway.... isn't what you said above exactly what you were suggesting at the beginning of this thread? Leave the usefulness out and keep replies short and sweet? Sounds like you talked yourself in to doing what you want everybody else to do. One down... 4700 more to go.

spelt 1 |spɛlt|
chiefly Brit. past and past participle of spell 1 .

The American English past tense form of the verb spell is spelled.

verb ( past and past part. spelled |speld| or chiefly Brit. spelt |spelt|) [ trans. ]

What next? Putting a superfluous "u" into the word color?

Best regards,
Frank C

I hope your not trying to criticize my attempt at sarcasm by judging me. Now, back on topic!
