Welcome to the board.
Anything but red will interfere with night vision. If you want the lighting on while navigating at night, go with the red.
I went w/blue for use while at the dock/anchored.

Use the search function as there's been a lot of discussion on the subject.

I like the blue led's just because it's a crips bright glow but I switch them out when I get bored. I got some red, blue, white, purple and some other wierd color. They're easy to switch out but mainly use the blue when anchored out or docked.

Wesley,

Did those lights have any thing to do with the conception of you're first born? I get turned on just by looking at them. Who is up next on the main stage?

I went with a mix of the Festoon cool whites and blue leds from Superbrite LED. My wife hates them, she likes to joke about adding a disco ball.

White. Blue is tacky and red is for battle stations.

I like white lights or no lights at all. I just think blue lights look funky. The red sounds like the choice for lighting and night driving. How about some low mounted white lights. I find I do good as long as I dont look down at my floor.

Are the red or blue colored lights any less attractive to bugs than white? I don't particularly like yellow "bug" lights, but would like to add lights to our cockpit.

I don't think the red lights would make it any easier to work in there.........

You need to change those 350HP decals, Dom.

Red lights are used in companion ways during the night on navy ships when entering and exiting a hatch. Curtains are in place so that when you walk from a lighted inside compartment it shields the white light and keeps it inside the ship. The red leaves a very small signature and is extinguished as the door is closed again. Red is used because it does not interfere with night vision. :smt024
